Awesome! Have been Re-Converted!
I love this game and can't stop playing it.There are an awful lot of reviews slating this game but for me it is excellent.Once you update the software and you are viewing via an HDMI cable on a HDTV as I am, then all the frame rate issues disappear. I think this is the only reason people have been giving it bad reviews. But when sorted it is a truly awesome game.I used to love PES but was swayed back to FIFA in recent years but this game has made me come back again. I like FIFA for all the glitz and glamour but it cant quite compete with the sheer fun of PES and playing online is better with PES as you always have somebody to play as opposed to FIFA where I found it very frustrating trying to get opponents!Highly Recommend if you have an HDTV that is!!

I cannot beleive they didn't do this better....what the hell?
Although this game has the usual high standard of gameplay we've come to expect from PES - the graphics are so bad I'm astonished this is even a HD game. The replays are dreadful, it is really like watching a slideshow.I hate to admit it as I'm a PES fan, but this game is very below par. If you have an older PES, keep it and wait for the next one next year. This one isn't worth it.I usually write longer reviews, but this game leaves me sadly bemused and lost for words.:(

hang your heads in shame Konami!!!
I like many others am a die hard pro evo fan. fifa has never appealed to me at all. I can imagine alot of pro evo fans reading reviews on here with a real sense of worry and dissapointment that the game they have been waiting to buy for their ps3 for months and months is not upto scratch. im sorry to say its true. the framerate is awful, in other words it lags. its not smooth when your playing and i for one am so dissapointed with konami for releasing the game knowing it played so badly on the ps3! its a shocking way to treat fans who have been loyal for so many years! im actually hurt that they would do such a thing, it stinks of money grabbing. I feel like ive paid top price for a pirate copy and im pig sick. its an unbelievable mistake from konami to treat customers this way as now all those millions of loyal fans like me who never gave fifa a look in for all these years will now.....for the first time in ages think to themselves is fifa worth a go? the answer is of course no, fifa is awful. but that leaves me with no decent football game for my ps3 for at least a year. Konami....eh.......why?! :(

Don't believe the hype. I did, more fool me.
Having been away from games consoles for years and then recently invested in the PS3 I thought I should look around for a football game. At the time it was a toss up between Fifa '08 and PES '08.I'd known the Fifa games from back in the day but after having read up about the PES series I decided to hang on for that in order to experience the supposedly superior gameplay. Well, was I ever disappointed!Having spent a few hours caning the opposition 15-0 in cup games as a top team I opted to have a bash as the Master League as a beginner. Yes, it's a challenge, but you can only play so many games where it's nigh on impossible to score and instead you spend your time hanging on for a 0-0 draw only to have the opposition bang one in the onion bag in the last five minutes. Making any meaningful progress up the pitch is painfully slow, you're continually knocked off the ball and no one has the pace to break through the opposition ranks. Add to that Lawro's stilted commentary and the random drops in frame rate and you've got yourself a turkey. I'm bored of it already, can't be bothered to play dozens of games just to get to the transfer window in the hope of finding a half-decent player to bolster the ranks and the disc has barely seen the light of day.I'll be putting Fifa '08 on my Wish List for Christmas, it's got to be better than this. Avoid!

Much better than expected.
After reading very mixed reviews of this game, I was not sure I would get it or not. I have played previous versions of PES on the PC and really liked it so I took the risk, well once it went to £20 anyway! As it happens, it's a really good game. The only downside is that the online mode is suffering from slow down, there is a message when you log on saying that they are working on a fix. But, if you play on your own or with friends (much more fun!) it is good. If you like PES, you won't be disappointed. If you want to play online, you are better off waiting for them to fix the issues.I played FIFA on the PS3 as well and that is OK, but it doesn't feel as quick and you can't change the buttons, so much confusion if you come from PES to FIFA, you'll be shooting instead of passing! All in all, more than worth £20 - hopefully the online mode will be fixed soon too.

Three Stars
This game is fun and extremely playable. The ball physics are excellent which makes each game unpredictable. It's like a classic car - doen't have all the mod cons but it's great to drive and has passion - something which is lacking in the newer versions of Pes, yes technically great but without the passion. Plus you can play with players such as : Henrik Larsson, Roberto Carlos, Figo, Rui Costa, Del Piero etc !
