Now fully rewritten and entirely updated to reflect the pressing problems of today, Animal Liberation Now presents the definitive case for radically rethinking humanity's relationship with other animals 'Probably the single most influential document in the history of ... animal welfare' Guardian 'Raises ethical questions that every human being should take to heart' Yuval Noah Harari In 1975, Animal Liberation started a worldwide movement when it revealed the abuse of animals in factory farms and laboratories. In the fifty years since, science has further vindicated Peter Singer's arguments about animal sentience, and the book has helped change the minds of millions. But the situation for animals has in many ways grown worse. This revised edition, of which about two-thirds is entirely new, documents these and other developments, such as the impact of meat consumption on climate and the spread of dangerous new viruses. It refines its arguments in light of new evidence, equips the reader with fresh tools and advice, and shows us all the road ahead. ' Animal Liberation Now will motivate a new generation of readers who are resolutely committed to creating a just society for all' Joaquin Phoenix 'The indispensable foundational text for the movement, new and updated' J. M. Coetzee 'If I have to pick the book that had the most impact on me, I would say Peter Singer's Animal Liberation ' Jane Goodall 'One the most important books of the last 100 years ' Ecologist Review: Best book for animal rights - Very intense thoughts in a very easy to read language Review: Nice copy, arrived in good condition, but font is very cramped together - This review is of the physical product not its written contents. The book I received was delivered in good condition, and physically its a well-made book. The edition is floppy, opens on the spine easily, making for easy reading. But the font is a problem, which is font size is pleasant to the eyes, the font spacing is not. There is very little space in the margins for marginalia and makes the book feel very cramped, from one corner of the page to the other. The font on the Notes page is also unnecessarily big and looks bad. Did not expect such styling and formatting from a Harper Perennial book.

Rowohlt, Reinbek 1996. SINGER, Peter: Practical Ethics. Cambridge University Press, Cambridge 1979; 2nd edition, 1993 (deutsch Praktische Ethik. 2. Auflage. Reclam, Stuttgart 1994).

Fascinating, engaging, and incredibly important
This is a complete re-write and update of Peter Singer’s classic ‘Animal Liberation’ that came out 50 years ago. It’s an extremely informative and accessible reminder of how far we’ve progressed in the last 50 years when it comes to respecting animals’ rights, and how far we have yet to go. As you’d expect given the extent of animal abuse in our society, the content can be pretty hard-hitting, but it’s not bleak or pessimistic - when I came to the end, I didn’t feel depressed, but rather energised to fight to prevent humans’ mistreatment of other animals. A fantastic and extremely important read.

A MUST READ before going grocery shopping
This book has changed my life. I now have stopped eating red meat. I only eat canned tuna and ensure that the eggs I purchase are "free range". The eggs cost more, but are worth it. Every time I consider purchasing beef, I consider where it came from and even do the same when it comes to bacon and pork. I think of those stories. I am cooking meatless meals and ensuring that I get enough protein in my diet as a result of this book. I am reading a few other books written by Peter Singer. This one, though is by far the most profound impact. I have since ordered other books that have the same philosophy that encourage the same ideas.
