Clear and thoughtful
This is a great little book. Never grows old since God is timeless. It's one where you can read a page a day or a chapter. I'm the kind of read who wants to think about what I've read every time and look up bible passages and it's easy to do with this and pick up where I left off. A clear and thoughtful way to know God over and above knowing about God.

OMGOSH! EXCELLENT BOOK! If you REALLY want to KNOW the God of the Bible, read this book; it’s probably the BEST book Packer has ever written. It’s stood the test of time, having been written in 1973. It’s easy to read, but CHOCK FULL of vital information.

Knowing God, by J.I. Packer : a Great book.
First read Knowing God, by J.I. Packer, in 1984. It changed my life. I've re-read it four or five times; have given it to a bunch of people over the years. A truly great book. It may seem a bit dated, and Packer was British, so the language is not what you might read if it was written yesterday here in the U.S. But the content is timeless. A serious book; clear exposition of the Bible's main subject: God. I like it best in paperback. David L. , New York, June, 2026

Good read and helpful
A highly regarded book by many people I’ve known. I always want a closer walk with God. I was somewhat disappointed to discover that this book, like most Christian literature, teaches a lot “about” God without actually teaching how to “know” God. That said, I found much of what the author explains very helpful. The final chapters, though, became mind-numbingly theological and I simply put it down without finishing it. YMMV
