The best book to study feline anatomy, movement and structure. Sir Joe Weatherly's style of drawing are not only realistic but also dynamic which I am a big fan of. I am still learning feline anatomy, skeleton structure, dynamic poses and this book helped me a lot. I included some sketches I practiced by studying this book. Highly recommended.

I love this book, it is very informative and shows a good way of explaining how to draw felines of all sizes and in all types of poses. There are many illustrations by the author, and I sometimes just browse it for the pleasure of looking at them instead of studying. This is the only book you need to learn how to draw felines, for sure. I took 1 star off because it would help (me, at least) if the author got a writer to help him with the blurbs of text. He is an amazing artist, but not so good at editing copy.

As good as his previous book The Weatherly Guide to draw animals. His drawing here is even more dynamic and confident , as well as instructive. Although the book is dedicated to feline subjects, all his teaching is firmly grounded on the principles of figure drawing - transfer 3D to 2D, so you can be benefited from what you learned when you draw other subjects such as human figure, other animals, even still life. Highly recommended.

Shows how to use form and gesture drawing to draw cats from your imagination. Shows many different species of cats and their unique features so you can accurately draw them. Also shows how muscles of the cats change form from active to passive. Lots of diagrams and drawn examples. I would highly recommend! It’s purr-fect!”

are you a cat person? if yes, get this book. I have went through his other book on drawing animals and this is just as detailed. Joe Weatherly is an expert on drafting animals, there is emotion and an economy of line in his sketches that one can only achieve after years of practice. His books aren't for drawing a single hyperrealistic animal portrait that you spent 30+ hours on; they are for understanding the structure and gesture and gait of an animal so that you can capture their nature with only a few lines, and achieve a compelling pose. This is the book to get if you wish to understand and draw cats from imagination (or from life), not just copying a reference. Cats are fascinating, graceful creatures that ive always found the most difficult animal to draw, as their grace lends to an innate gestural rhythm that ive struggled to capture. i feel lucky that there is such a book on drawing cats by Mr. Weatherly. I'm wondering if he'll drop a future book on dogs and other canines, if so I would be the first to purchase it.

This is an excellent guide to drawing all sorts and sizes of cats---line drawings, drawings of cats in motion and, most helpful of all, construction drawings. Helps in understanding cat skeleton and muscle structure as well as various anatomical features and patterns. Highly recommend!! Money very well spent!

hands down the best guide for artists on drawing wild and domestic cats. Joe Weatherly's drawings are incredibly dynamic and lyrical. This is not about fancy rendering, but understanding the underlying structure of felines. As an animator and illustrator, this is absolutely a top tier reference book.
