These are not the recordings you're after
As the Product Description says, take a listen to the originals. These aren't them. Hallmark is a label of the Pickwick group, which first became known in the early 1970s for those Top Of The Pops albums that featured all the current hits re-recorded by faceless sessioneers, sounding vaguely like the originals but decidedly NOT those originals. Same here, by and large: I've little doubt that the group that recorded these tracks has legal right to the name The Coasters and is a later (MUCH later) line-up, but these are not the original recordings, only vaguely like them. NO INFORMATION TO THIS EFFECT IS CONTAINED ANYWHERE ON THE DISC OR PACKAGING. Frankly, within 30 seconds of my pressing Play, the disc was in my bin. Don't be taken in.The software for this page won't let me assign a rating of zero stars, so I'm afraid I have to give a one-star rating; otherwise this would be only the second zero-star rating I've given in nearly 20 years as a professional arts reviewer.

Don't Buy This Album
Despite what the other reviewer of this CD says, the songs on Poison Ivy don't appear to be the original recordings. I just finished listening to the CD, and I'm quite disappointed (I ordered another greatest hits compilation from the Coasters earlier today, and I really hope that the third time is the charm). Sellers really shouldn't sell inferior products like this, and it should be made clear to consumers exactly what they're buying. The recordings here are solid, and all the major hits from the group are featured. Still, some songs appear to be originals (ex: "It Ain't Sanitary"; "The Deodorant Song"; "TV Fanatic"), while others are clearly re-recordings ("Yakety Yak"; "Charlie Brown"; "Poison Ivy"; "Searchin'"; "Love Potion No. 9"; "Young Blood"; "Along Came Jones"). The following Coasters compilations seem to be better: Yakety Yak: The Platinum Collection; The Ultimate Coasters; The Very Best of the Coasters. Sadly, I haven't found a perfect Coasters compilation yet, but I'm sure that the ones listed above are all better than Poison Ivy. In short, be cautious when buying a Coasters compilation.
