Great little magic arm for a fill light.
Great little arm to be able to re-position my cameras fill light to one side when needing to remove shadows. made of good quality metal and holds my 1kg light with no issues. There is a good range of motion using the 2 tripod screws and the mid point geared teeth. Would recommend this for a budget arm if you need to have some flexibility with mounting lights or video monitors.

Easy to position but uses limited by the screw ends.
This is ideal for small lightweight lcd panels and the like. Locks down well. The only thing is the screw fixtures on the end, which might not suit everyone. If you get yourself a screw-on cold-shoe adapter (which are cheap), you could use a range of product which come with a cold-shoe fitting. I have some 2x2" Ulanzi lcds for example which work like this.I can confirm that you can even mount a full-size Godox speedlight onto a cold-shoe adapter with this arm. The arm is securely held although I did not try fitting and modifiers on the flash.I use mine on my camera cage and also with a super-clamp or crab-clamp. If you want more versatility you would have to spend a lot more on Manfrotto arm or similar.I think this is well worth the money. I spent a while checking reviews on generic arms here on Amazon and they don't get great reviews. I think this Smallrig arm is good quality and useful like any other Smallrig product I've bought.

Used for Atomos Ninja V
I've been using this (New) arm for my Ninja V, I record Wildlife mainly and needed a way to move the monitor at different angles depending on filming conditions. My biggest concern was that the monitor with battery would be too heavy and pull the arm out of position. After a morning testing it in the field it is rock solid, I was so impressed I've just ordered another one so I can have additional mounting options for Audio or maybe small video set ups.

Great build, Locking Mechanism not the best idea
I used this item with my DJI Ronon S Gimbal. Screw this to the side to mount a iPhone on. Once you screw the handle in place you can no longer move or angle any of the ball joints, they all locked. However when holding the iPhone and was locked, the unit kept un twisting.Overall build quality nice.

Nice little magic arm, good price.
I have several of the generic cheap "11 inch" magic arms that are sold under assorted names on Amazon, which are fine, though not capable of taking serious loads like their larger and much more costly brethren. This Smallrig branded 9.5" one was on offer for around fifteen pounds and I thought it looked like a step up in quality, and so it is. The metal wingnut to tighten it is way better than the plastic knobs on the cheaper ones, the ball joints lock out with much less tightening effort, and the general fit and finish is noticeably superior. The (removable) circular threaded plates at the ends have rubber 'o' rings to cushion what they are tightened against - this is a mixed blessing - if you want a good rigid fit against (say) a SuperClamp, you need to tighten them down quite hard, or replace with an uncushioned locknut. It's worth mentioning that this 9.5" arm is EXACTLY the same overall length as the cheap "11 inch" ones; their eleven inches include an inch and a half of spacer type adapter and hot-shoe things.Really can't fault this as the price I paid. If you do anything with microphones or GoPros or portable lights, you need a few of these. I've even used one in the past to rig up a little screen for someone stuck in a hospital bed...
