Buy PGCE Survival Guide incorporating #pgcetips by Handley, Tim (ISBN: 9781446164907) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Essential for those starting, or on a PGCE course - I have spent the last couple of months feeling incredibly anxious about my PGCE starting in September. I am now kicking myself that I didn't buy this book sooner! Everything I felt uncertain about, is explained in this book. It has calmed me down massively and even although I am still very nervous, I feel I've had a lot of questions answered about the course and most importantly, how to survive it! It is very up to date, and Tim Handley obviously knows exactly how new Teacher Trainees will be feeling. The book is written concisely and is nice and easy just to flick through every now and again, which I find very useful. I'd recommend this for anyone starting, or currently on a PGCE course- it will really start to put your mind at rest if you, like me, are feeling a little shaky about it all. Absolutely love it :D Review: Great book, I have read it before I start ... - Great book, I have read it before I start the PGCE in September and feel that it has given me a great insight into what to expect when I start

pgce student
perfect book to read and exactly like reviews had said. very quirky and great for giving you an idea of what to expect next year, keeping mine to refer to during the course. Would note it is a4 size, much bigger than I thought but still worth it.

Price is quite steep for the product.
The book itself is easy to read and gives an insight of the PGCE through the eyes of current students. This is useful to gain an understanding of the workload expected from you. It is made up with quotes found on twitter and so is full of lots of different people's views. However you can download the book for free on the author's website. I didn't know this at the time of buying this product and so to me the price is really quite steep. I read it in one sitting and not sure if I will read it again. The idea of the book is nice, but a little more depth would be needed for the price.

Out dated
This book is so old. It refers to the ICT skills test which no longer exists and just reads in a very archaic way. There are also a lot of grammar mistakes. There are way better books on the market, unfortunately I don’t recommend this one.

A Waste Of Money!
The PGCE Survival Guide is a badly written, cheaply produced waste of money. Consisting of little more than a collection of badly written blogs and dozens of tweets, there is nothing in this book which you couldn't find out yourself by signing up to Twitter and engaging with more current/experienced/impressive teachers and students. There are a few practical tips here, but generally this book looks like it's been rushed into the market in order to capitalise on a Twitter community who would have been happy to offer better advice free of charge. Avoid like the plague.
