This is a great cervical traction device to lay your head on for anywhere from 5-25 minutes. I would not recommend sleeping on it. What type of material is this made of?

It seems to have a soft/latex type interior which doesn't actually squish but feels comfortable and the outside seems to be plastic coated and I always lay a cloth over it for comfort.  Initially the plastic had a strong smell but it has gone now.  I hope this helps you out.

Does this help with alordosis?

I don't know.  I have severe spinal stenosis and degenerative disk disease.  I purchased this as a replacement for a pillow, as I have not been able to use one in a while.  This did not work for me at all.

If you're asking "is this Good For military neck"? then theoretically - yes. "Military neck" is reduced curve, or overly straight cervical spine (or "reverse curve" as chiropractors tend to call it). This device advertises a gentle "cervical curvature correction," so that is what they are advertising it for. There are many factors that go into developing, and correcting, a myo-fascial-skeletal misalignment or holding pattern (eg is it from injury or posture, how long has it been around, etc), but this seems like it might help toward to goal of enhancing the cervical curve for those who need it, or at the least, giving some gentle traction. I have not tried it yet, but other devices of similar design do help - every person/every neck has different shape, and a different need, hence different designs may work/not work for each person. (I'm a myofascial therapist, so I see a variety of "shapes" daily; there is no "one answer" for everybody)
