SHARP
I don’t care about looks as much as I do efficiency. The minute I took this blade out of the package. I was upset because I thought that you got to and felt like that way it was advertised was misleading. I quickly realized, I should’ve read more into it. However. I carry displayed on me at all times now. The metal is thick at the top all the way to the edge & stays sharp and it’s easy to sharpen every time it connects with another blade, so far, not one nic. The people that I train with use real swords. This has been the best Amazon sword I’ve bought. Even better than the samurai sword that I paid Double for and much better than the “Damascus” one. So look into the brands of the things that you buy. However, I can tell you personally that I trust this blade with my life. It’s also beautifully made, and would make a great decoration.

4 outta 5
Its as advertised, Nothing wrong with the blade, The polish could use a bit of a touch up, But nothing serious, Fake samegawa is really the only issue, But knew that when purchasing it. I just dont understand these companies, They go thru all the trouble of making a steel blade, Specially the clay tempered ones, Yet they go the cheap route n use fake rayskin....Doesn't make sense, And they put horn on the bottom of the saya but not the top?.... Again no sense, But knowing all that, Its not a huge deal, not many Tantos on here that have actual style.

This is legit and sharp
Got this for someone who loves swords. Compared with her others and this one is the nicest by far. It's sharp and well made.

Pretty but cheap quality
pretty but I couldn’t even get it out the casing. It’s stuck in there. The handle isn’t fully covered either towards the top the base is a bit expose

Super nice for display. Authentic looking and feels good in hand. Decent construction. 4 1/2 stars
I am an American of Japanese descent and most of my early childhood was spent in Japan. I grew up around katana's and kendo. My Japanese side of the family owned a few and I was taught to respect them and the heritage around them. I jumped when I had a chance to review this product. I wasn't expecting much for an $80 katana. I was pleasantly surprised when I received. The construction was decent and it felt good and proper in hand. The blade was of proper shape and design and it was solid. The habaki, ferrule that is next to the guard where it joins the handle, is made of copper. This fit is nice and solid. The handle is nicely wrapped and looks authentic. The scabbard is made of wood and has a matte black finish to it. The stand shown in the item description is not included. My only issue is the white portion of the handle under the wrap looks like styrofoam the way it is dimpled. I have worked with a material that was a soft rubber foam that was similarly dimpled, we called it chicken skin, so that may be what it actually is. However we are talking about a replica katana that is less than $80. I did want to mention that the blade is very sharp and should be handled with care. I wouldn't recommend playing samurai with it. I plan on displaying it with some other Japanese items from my childhood. I give it 4 1/2 stars.

My favorite katana
Over time, I have collected multiple katanas, and at the time of this writing I have six in my collection. They each have their own character and style, and this one is hands-down my favorite. It's not the most elaborate or ornate, and perhaps that's why I like it so much. It's also a little bit smaller than my others and is a little easier to wield. It's sharp and comes slightly oiled. I was initially disappointed that the sageo was undone, but I now appreciate this for two reasons. The first is that it comes with additional sageo to try, and the second is that it gave me an incentive to learn to tie one for myself. Easily found some tutorial videos online. These are beautiful when displayed, and this is my favorite. Very satisfied.

Gorgeous Katana
First off, this thing is stunning. The black lacquered scabbard is the perfect backdrop to the dragons meeting in the middle. Pale gold belt cords match the handle wrap and make this look like a show piece. The sword guard and two (2) pieces above/below all maintain the dragon motif, whether scaled or with actual dragon reliefs. The handles don't seem to be wrapped in ray skin, but they do have the dragons as the sword spirit guardians.Blade is sharp. Sword has an overall good balance and heft, so I don't doubt that you can go into combat with this. All the parts seem well assembled and sturdy. The only thing I actually don't like is the blade finish. I prefer a plain blade that has the temper line, so I can see the skill of the craftsman. This hides it behind a finish, to set off the etching of dragon scale pattern. Not particularly my style, but this will end up being a display piece on the wall, so not the end of the world for me.Good value for a good looking piece.

A very nice short cabana, just need a few touch ups.
It is well made! It balances about an inch into the blade. It comes sharp but not razor-sharp. The details look great. But the endcap is plastic that's glued together and only held on by the handle strap. The gold detail on the hanger is just sitting there, will need to at least glue it in place. Overall a very nice piece!
