MAYES 10-in-1 Squangle

Not as good a quality as I expected. I have one that is 20 years old that is better than this brand new one. The old one is all aluminium and the origional thumb screw stays tight. I ordered this one to have in my shop. One arm is plastic and the thumb screw won't stay tight and keep the setting where I want it. In fact The screw came loose fell out and is under my work bench somewhere. I didn't bother retrieving it because it didn't work any way. The only thing That I disliked was. I had bought one before and it had the bubble leveler housed in metal.This one is in hard plastic.But it is still a great tool for anyone.All you have to do to get a pitch on a roof is set the squangle on the roof and raise the level till it is level , tighten the screw and start marking.Simple as that.

I wish it was all aluminum like the days of old. Screws still vibrate off in truck tool box so be prepared or bunk threads to stop from falling off. True pros will grind the corner off.... lol. Still a great tool.

A great tool if you are a roof framer, like myself, but this new model has a plastic handle, and a thinner blade. If you want my advice, search out an older used one, it will serve you better. This one does not stand up the the rugged demands of a professional, and is not really the kind of thing an amateur even needs.

The pivot bolt and nut were missing from the square when I received the item.

These things are great for contractors, handymen, and adjusters. I am an adjuster that uses it to determine roof pitch in the course of my work. It is also useful around the house for handyman projects. Much of it is made of plastic though so it can break pretty easily.
