Long rectangular mat that we bought to prevent embers damaging the floor in front of our fire.It isn't like a rug, but more of just a thin shiny black mat.It certainly does the job and can be a fire blanket as well. It is difficult to find anything like this without an massive price tag, so definitely worth the money.

This material is nothing like a welders mat or similar.Be very aware of the contradictory product description. 'Fireproof' is not the same as 'flame-resistant'. Water is flame resistant but it won't do much of a job to protect your carpet.Product instructions also refers to looking after the 'shiny side'. Both sides are equally shiny - though one has the product name printed on it.I think this mat is overpriced and underspecced for what I strongly suspect it is. I'm going to test it outdoors with some fairly modest embers. Best do that than have my nice carpet do it for me and be sorry.They advise to remove any hot material as soon as possible and would wouldn't they? Don't say if this is milliseconds, seconds or more. Clearly will vary with ember size and temperature but no attempt to give any information in that regard leaves the buyer prudently suspicious.One other reviewer mentions the mat being backed with tin - implying this is how it is was sold to them (?) Another says they will put a board under it as the heat went through and melted their carpet underneath. This effectively says to me the mat isn't much more than 'non-slip' - ember-wise. Don't want those embers bouncing off, do we ? Stop them quickly so they can do their stuff before they cool.Hmm.

OK so far - bit small but I just put it in front of the Komodo bbq and it works fine. Good thickness.

Carpet is as it says on tin, its fire proof and works well on tiles and to protec your carpet from embers or hot ash.

I feel much more secure with this mat by our wood burner. If you spill some ash or embers, there's nothing to worry about.

This product was purchased to go in front of my wood burner hearth to protect the carpet.When wood cinders jumped out, the mat protected the carpet from catching fire but the heat melted the carpet underneath.I would recommend you put fire board under it if you wish to use it as we do.

La compré hará un par de meses.El otro día estaba limpiando la chimenea. Cuando después de terminar cogí la alfombra para sacudirla fuera y limpiarla, me di cuenta de que en una de sus esquinas tenía una señal, como de haberse quemado, lo cual me dejó perplejo ya que se supone que es ignífuga. Le debió caer un ascua mientras yo limpiaba la chimenea, nada extraño vaya. Rápidamente volví a donde tengo la chimenea para revisar el suelo, y como me temía: al haber traspasado a la alfombra, me había calado al suelo, dejándome una señal de quemado... Justo lo que quería evitar cuando compré esta alfombra.Me parece una vergüenza, ya no solo es que no cumple su única función, es que encima eso me causa un enorme perjuicio al tener ahora una marca de quemado en el suelo. Alucinante.

Lo compré para mí casa, tengo una chimenea grande. Por ahora, cumple perfectamente su función. Gracias.

Es practico aunque poco adherente y hay que limpiarlo siempre con humedad.
