Is this good and sharp? The ones I keep getting are not

What grade stainless steel are these nippers made from?

400 series steel will rust as it has a high iron content. 300 series stainless and will not rust because it has a higher chromium and nickel content which makes it more corrosion resistant.

What am I doing wrong? I can’t get these to cut my hangnails precisely like they do at the nail salons. Is there a certain angle it needs to be held?

You need to soak one hand in slightly sudsy water for about 2-3 minutes to soften the cuticle. Then start trimming using the trimmer with light quick strokes not too deep in any one area. Better to tread lightly with them than go too deep. Go back over areas not fully trimmed. Then use the cuticle pusher to push back softened cuticles on nail bed. Follow with other hand making sure to soak one at a time before trimming. These are some of the best quality cuticle maintenance tools I have ever used outside of a salon.
