YAMAHA REFACE DX Professional Keyboard

This is really nice & has the DX sounds I decided a large controller was better for my purposes as I have lots of soft synths If you want a great Portable version of A DX7 that’s easy to use though with the Yamaha name this represents great value

An updated version of this would be nice, maybe needing fewer batteries and having longer runtimes, improved patch management/software etc. Money well spent nonetheless!

But you can get more, better, similar results using software nowadays. This is 4opvso not exactly a DX7 alternative.

If you like the FM synth sound you will love this little keyboard. It also has some handy extra features: it has midi in and out, good sounding small stereo speakers and an aux stereo sound input socket. There is lots of support and help on the internet including a large library of sounds that you can load in to your Reface DX. It is surprisingly heavy because it is well made. Some of sound patches you can find are better than the factory patches. You can overwrite any of the 32 patch slots (and get back the original patches easily if you want to).

This is a top quality piece of equipment, make no mistake about that. Jam packed with cracking preset sounds, it's such fun to play and brings back long lost memories of the 1980s! The only criticisms I have are the small keys (which I did get used to) and an inconvenient way to save your own tweaked sounds onto the thing itself (would mean over-writing an existing preset sound). Despite these (minor) grumbles, I would thoroughly recommend this smashing little thing; it looks like a toy but is, in fact, the real deal!!

Believe it or not, there are not many good synth around in this price range. And if you consider FM there are even less. Well, we all know that Yamaha knows a couple of things about FM synthesis, being the one that changed music forever with the DX7, back in the 80's. This little masterpiece here is the natural heir of the king and, in some ways, it's even better! Yes, you have "only" 4 operators instead of 6, but the range of sound you can make is basically endless, and the sound quality is AMAZING. Unlike the DX7, make a patch here is waaaaay easier and a lot of fun, is actually the best synth there is to learn FM, no doubts. On top of this you have a very nice selection of effects and you can use two of them at the same time. And there's also a super fun midi looper and an aux in, so it's very easy to connect something like a drummachine to the Reface DX and start jamming with the looper. You can also sync everything by midi and you don't need a mixer! The build quality of the Reface line is well known, one of the best around, especially the mini keys, I never used a minikeyboard so nice and precise like this one. Can you get anything better for this price? Absolutely not, if you want a great synth and you like FM, buy it immediately!

Top Produkt in Yamaha Qualität. Toller Sound und tolles Interface. Dank hochwertigem Display und Touchscreen sehr intuitiv zu bedienen. Ja es ist ein DX-7 und er hat Style. Habe auch einen Volca FM-2, ebenfalls super aber der Yamaha ist edler auch wenn manche Presets albern sind.

Da ich in den 80-zigern aufgewachsen bin (Gott sei Dank) ist der DX7 von Yamaha das Keyboard das jeder haben wollte aber anno dazumal echt nicht leistbar war. Für gebrauchte fast 40-jährige Geräte verlangen einige Verkäufer auf diversen Plattformen ein kleines Vermögen. Aber dann entdeckte ich - ich wollte ein physisches Gerät und nicht ein Programm zur Klangerstellung - dieses Yamaha REFACEDX, und war überglücklich. Der Preis passte, daher sofort bestellt und ein paar Tage später war es da. Leider so muss ich sagen, hatte dieses kleine Keyboard mit Minitasten zwei eklatante Mängel. Gleich nach dem Auspacken und hinstellen fiel mir auf, dass das Gerät nicht gerade stand und stark wackelte!! Mir kam vor als wäre es verzogen. Anders kann ich es nicht erklären, zumal es sich sicher um ein neues Keyboard handelte und auch an der Verpackung keine Auffälligkeiten auszumachen waren. Auch das Aufstellen auf verschiedenen "Untergründen" brachte keine Besserung. Die vier Gumminoppen unter dem Geräte waren auch alle gleich und fielen nicht weiter auf. Damit nicht genug wurde nach dem einschalten und den ersten Tests ein rauschen am linken Lautsprecher festgestellt. Nicht laut aber dennoch als nicht normal einzustufen, da ja der rechte Lautsprecher als Pendant herhalten konnte und bei diesem war doch alles in Ordnung. Wieso und weshalb es bei diesem Keyboard zu solchen Mängeln kam, kann und will ich nicht "orakeln". Viele meiner Yamaha Produkte (von Klavier bis zu Keyboards) sind tadellos und vielleicht gerade deshalb bin ich doch sehr verwundert darüber gewesen. Am ehestens würde ich noch eine schlechte Lagerung (es herrschte Eiseskälte von -20 Grad) vermuten aber das ist wirklich "Kaffeesudleserei" und daher lassen wir es lieber. Habe danach den Kundendienst von AMAZON verständigt und die Mängel erklärt. Wie immer war mein Ansprechpartner im Chat sehr freundlich und kompetent. Voller Trauer musste ich das Keyboard zurücksenden und traute mich auch nicht, nochmals dasselbe Gerät zu kaufen sondern diesmal auf einen Händler in meiner Nähe auszuweichen. Sehr schade den die Klänge dieses Keyboards sind 1:1 zum alten DX7. Wunderbar.

Divertente... a tratti potente... seppur piccola la keybed e' molto gradevole. Brava Yamaha... un modulo FM con tastiera annessa! Una tastiera... non solo da divano ;-)
