Ankarsrum Stainless Beater Bowl

From the time I got my Ankarsrum, I felt that, in spite of how sturdy the mixer and primary bowl are, that the plastic whipping and mixing bowl was very flimsy. You could hear it flexing like it was going to break if you put anything thick in to mix. I've also seen on Facebook several instances of people complaining that their bowls had shattered from temperature shocks. So, I decided to order the stainless bowl. Wow, what a difference in quality! It's heavy gauge stainless steel, which will be great for chilling for whipping cream. I'm very happy with this switch. The manufacturer should sell the original machine with this bowl instead.

The Ankarsrum Stainless Steel bowl is a huge step up from the plastic bowl that comes with the unit. It shall do the job of making a batch of cookie dough without the worry of cracking the plastic bowl which cannot take heavy loads. Love this and ;highly recommend it and this seller who saw to protecting in carton and delivering much faster than expected. A ten star rating is more like it!

Okay, like a lot of people, I hate the plastic bowl and sure enough mine broke with a cookie recipe that wasn't particularly dense. So like most American owners, I experienced it was constantly short stocked in brick and mortar stores and was soon sold out when they got any stock. So I found it on Amazon and grabbed it up quickly as only two were left. It is so much nicer than the plastic bowl, and really is amazing. Plus boy if you need to whip cream it remains cold much longer!

When I received my mixer the plastic was cracked! I purchased this bowl and works great and looks terrific. ANKARSRUM Should forget the plastic and make this standard with the mixer. $700 mixer with a plastic bowl? I think not!

My old plastic bowl cracked at the bottom after I accidentally applied a little to much speed on a slightly too-thick mixture. This beauty will last forever. And I'm a lot more comfortable doing a bain-marie directly in this thing. (I had done it before in the plastic, which may have contributed to its demise.) You can even pop the top of the beater assembly on it, and manually rotate the assembly to beat your mixture while in the bain-marie. I guess my only concern is that the base is a big empty space, adding buoyancy and making me nervous about water getting in — whether during bain-marie or dishwashing.

PROS: We love our Ankarsrum...LOVE IT! But one of the things we have never understood is why the included beater bowl is made of a plastic that doesn't hold up that well (ours is only a few years old, used about 10-15 times a year, is hand washed only and yet has stress cracks in it). Look no further as this is your solution -- a stainless steel bowl for the beaters! It is beautiful, and makes you further appreciate your awesome Ankarsrum. It is made from high quality stainless steel and feels solid (thick), somewhat like the mixing bowl. ON UPDATE: A "pro move" you can do with this bowl is to pre-chill or pre-freeze the bowl if you want the contents to stay colder while mixing (some butters, creams, etc.). The thick stainless allows that possibility whereas the plastic can't do it. CONS: It's just the bowl --no beater attachments, bars, nothing. The price is VERY high for what you are getting, and don't forget, this bowl does not spin or anything...it just sits there. It is also frustrating that Ankarsrum wants you to pay a price equal to a number of decent mixers out there for just for a bowl that should have come with it already. It's easily $30 overpriced. However, at the end of the day this is a far superior beater bowl to the plastic one, and it is (unfortunately) a buy-once-cry-once necessity. You will be glad to own it when you use it.
