Shipped with dead battery
Didnt work. Contacted Vicks. Said they licensed the product to another company -Kaz - they sent an email saying they’d get back to me in 1-2 days. Haven’t heard anything. Update: company responded. I’ll update when resolved but now see many reviewers complained of deliveries with dead batteries. Vicks responded not their problem , contact seller. No way found to contact seller. Amazon, finally, refunded the cost via a credit. Which went partly to buying batteries which brought the thermometer back to life. They ship them with dead batteries.

Picked up replacement batteries works great
It's a little confusing to chose the body part before taking the temperature. But once you do it absolutely is 2 seconds for an accurate temperature reading!

Will not buy Vicks again
Got this the other day and it had a dead battery. How long had this been sitting around to have the battery go dead?I also do not like that every time you try to use it, you have to select one of the three modes, why can't it store your selection. So over all there are better products at must less cost.

Dead battery on arrival.
Wow, most devices have a plastic tab to protect the discharge of the battery, this did not. In the midst of my first covid case, I found all my thermometers had dead batteries, so I just ordered a new thermometer. This one came dead on arrival. So I ordered a bunch of batteries and have a thermometer for each room. This thermometer is awesome, soooooo fast!!!

Inaccurate reading

Works like it should
You have to press the on button twice to take temp under arm pit. A couple times it wasn’t accurate the first try so I had to check again. This can be hard with a crying, sick baby. I love the older design better. Works as should nothing special about it.

Defective
Would have given zero stars if I could have. I bought this to replace the exact same thermometer that I have had for a while but that one broke. This arrived and couldn't be turned on. I opened up the battery compartment and as other reviewers have noted, there was not a tab to pull to activate the battery. Maybe it didn't turn on because the battery is defective. I have no idea but it is in its box to be returned tomorrow morning. I originally bought this because it was a Wirecutter choice and I need an accurate thermometer. Very disappointed.
