Best book on GDPR!
I've gone through multiple books on GDPR - and not being a lawyer the best way to understand GDPR is through good examples. The book does just that. Even though the price is bit high - I found it totally worth the money. Also - both the authors are reachable via LinkedIn - and answered some of my questions. If you are totally new to GDPR, to get the maximum value from the book, I would recommend that you go through some introductory articles on GDPR first. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn GDPR!

If you are a privacy professional you need this book.
Finally a book with Examples. Well written book GDPR with countless scenarios and fact patterns. IAPP books are horribly written on purpose and confusing. This book gets straight to the point and is written in a fashion that is easy to understand. I used this book and the ICO UK website to get a good foundation on the GDPR and the application of the law.

Good, but could be Great with some work
The authors clearly have done their homework and know GDPR. The book is written by masters of their craft. I think my main aggravation reading through it has been its [apparent] translation from German into English. There are errors in grammar (for example, use of "Legislator" vice "Legislature"); yet, that can be forgiven. How ideas are conveyed through phrasing, cannot so easily be disregarded. I can only guess, but it may very well be that it is a literal translation. This doesn't work well all too often and one wonders if perhaps the next edition would benefit more from someone far more fluent in the English written word. I don't want this review to be mean spirited. That is not my intention at all. I merely want the authors/publishers to recognize that they have an incredible opportunity to revise their manuscript to achieve its promise as truly "A Practical Guide."

Great guide to understand and implement the beast known as GDPR.
It was about 20 years ago that the Y2K problem had firms scrambling to fix the issue. At its core, it was a rather simple problem to fix. Firms just had to change a 2-digit year field to a 4-digit field. But the devil, as always, was in the details and firms struggled to understand how many applications they had, and where the date fields resided in their massive code base. Many Fortune 500 firms took 6-months or more just to get a listing of the applications that were potentially problematic.Compared to the Y2K issue, the problems firms face with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) are infinitely greater. In the appropriately titled The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): A Practical Guide (Springer 978-3319579580), authors Paul Voigt and Axel von dem Bussche have written a highly pragmatic guide that provides an excellent overview of the regulation, and how to ensure compliance with it.GDPR was put into effect in April 2016 and becomes enforceable on May 25, 2018. While the text of the regulation is freely available, it doesn’t lend itself to an easy read, or details on how to effectively execute it. In the book, the authors focus on the practical aspects of the regulation and show how to implement it in a methodical manner. This book has a focus on practical implementation and the authors provide a large number of real-world examples to concretize the many concepts in the regulation. For those that have not started their GDPR remediation efforts, there is a massive amount they need to do before the regulation goes live in 70 days. For anyone tasked with GDPR compliance, this is the book most people should have read some time ago.

A quick guide for EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
The General Data Protection Regulation become a major issue for many organizations in the world wide. The book "The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): A Practical Guide" can be used as a quick guide for the legal and the IT (Information Technology) departments, and especially for the IS (Information Security) staff. However, please be aware to the following issues: First, as I understand it, the original book Audience is legal department staff. Second, the book contains some words that are using jargons (I.e. 'Europe jargons'). You can use any search engine to obtain additional information on these 'words', so be prepared. Last, it could be useful if the Autor will add to the next edition flowcharts (flow diagrams), so the reader would be able to obtain quick answers, without a need to read the all chapter, for example. But it should be noted that to the best of my knowledge, the use of flowcharts is not common in legal literature, which explains why they these flowcharts didn't included in the first edition.

Waste of money
Unfortunately, this book is the result of someone who doesn't appear to have ever actually been involved with managing a compliance/privacy organization. It's almost all academic with broken English and information that doesn't include the last year of GDPR interpretations. It reads like a cash grab to be one of the first offering something GDPR-related on Amazon.I also purchased https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074JXTJX2, which offered much more information and guidance. It's also interesting that half the 5-star reviews were not verified purchases...

Useful guidance
Excellent overview of the GDPR by a couple of German authors. The English style is a bit stilted, and the references are all to German publications, but despite that, this is a useful guide to the implications of the new Regulation. I noticed a couple of minor mis-spellings and one omission regarding Article 80 of the Regulation. I would have liked to have seen more on how organisations should gear up to the new rules by expanding the discussion on this in the final chapter. Useful case studies highlight key points.
