I'm using the 12AY7 in a Fender Champion 600. It's the second stage of upgrade for the little amp. I bought the 600 with intent to use it as a project amp. The first upgrades were grill cloth replacement, an upgrade to a Jenson MOD6 speaker and a tube change. At that stage, I replaced the factory tubes with a JJ 12AX7 and a JJ 6V6. The outcome was mixed. The amp now sounded like a real Fender amp. It also became much louder. What it lost was the jazzy mid-rangy tone that first caught my ear. The electrics I use are a Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin and a Fender, Thinline Telecaster. That's were the EH 12AY7 comes in. It's restored a bit of the amp's mid-range fullness, but without the mud. It's also noticeably reduced the volume output which, for my purposes is great. The sound now begins to break up at a volume suitable for coffee shop/wine bar gigs. It's also tamed some of the amp's hum (it's most annoying trait). Bottom line: If you're trying to coax a bit jazzier sound from a Fender amp and don't mind (or like me, actually want) a bit of volume drop, The EH12AY7 is worth a try.

I put one of these in my Blackstar along with an equalizer in the FX loop to help reduce the gain and if worked great.

Item works as described. I bought this tube to replace the 12AX7 in V1 on my Orange Dual Terror because I wanted less gain on my fat channel. It did the job!

Bought this as a backup for my Fender Bassman. I am sure it will work fine because I already have one in there.

Came earlier than expected. Great seller. And the tube is perfect, brought the gain down and tamed my Crate VC50 to much better frequency balance.
