Beautiful—but there;s a hitch
I ordered three of these lovely Fabege-style eggs. The plan was to use them to hold all the sparkly studs that are now stashed in little plastic containers in drawers. When I want a particular pair or color, I rarely can find the ones I want before I have to leave. The other two, one red, and the other royal blue/purple, were opened first. They were exactly what I wanted. Each is a different style, uniquely decorated, and finished in colored porcelain. Both are perfect for the purpose for which I wanted to use them. When I opened the last one, the blue one, I was surprised.Instead of the filagree decorating the inner colored shell of porcelain, the filigree of this egg is completely open. I remember when I ordered it, there wasn't much blue on it. I looked closely at the picture and found that there was a trim of blue enamel at the poles and around the equator of the egg. I assumed that since the item was advertised as a trinket box, it must be lined with something clear. Nope. It is completely open, not at all the spot for tiny gemstone studs. I thought that maybe the pearls I had in another box could be stored there. However, I ran my fingers over the inner surface and found that though the filigree is not sharp, it isn't smooth enough to rub against the delicate surface of a pearl.I have three beautiful Faberge-style eggs on my vanity tray. Two will hold my many sparklies. I won't be able to sort them by color families as planned. That third one will work for something. I just haven't figured out exactly what just yet. Maybe the larger studs. Rings? I'll think of something. All three are well-made. The hinges work well, the latches are secure, yet are not difficult to open. I love all three. I was just surprised that the third was so unlike the others that my plan had to change. I do recommend them enthusiastically. I just want prospective purchasers to be aware that yes, you can see through this egg—and that's because the filigree is the only wall. This egg would work for rings or tennis-style bracelets but not for small earrings.

small footprint - HUGE sparkle
Faberge Eggs are a great thing to collect. With prices like these, it's easy. Fill up a curio cabinet and you'll be a home of distinction.

Nice Looking
Nice and as shown and described. It looks nice for display, but on close inspection or when held, there are some short comings- the metal filigree is thick and the gold tone seems a bit "off". It has a costume jewelry feel to it, but that's essentially what it is. The enameling is good and within the borders, but especially on the mid section opening, there is evidence of where the enamel was wiped away, leaving spots of gloss, but not color. It opens and closes OK, but the hinge and clasp is already much looser than when first opened. The feet sit flat on surface with no wobble. There were no material defects or flaws on the egg that I received which is appreciated at this price point.
