Can this put out petrol/ diesel /paraffin fires?

Small diesel or paraffin fires, maybe. Petrol? Don't even think about it! This item is not designed to smother anything but a small, localised fire. A cooking hob fire should be managable but anything involving fuels, no.

Can I keep this outside - I'd like to mount it under our pergola for when we use the firepit? Will it work if it gets damp?
