The light emitted cannot be faulted and does reduce glare when used for reading or crafting, both main reasons for purchase and deserving of 5 stars. However, I have given it a rating of 4 due to the fact that it is rather ugly when sited in the lounge, where I need it. It is also rather unsteady on carpet, which may be hazardous when children or pets are nearby. Longevity of bulb life I cannot comment upon as it is a very recent purchase and has, as yet, not received frequent use.

We live in a North-West facing basement flat which gets little more than 2 hours of direct sunshine in late August alone and as such is a naturally gloomy residence. This lamp has changed all of that. It is like having daylight on tap. We tend to angle the lamp to point straight up so as to flood the room with light reflected across the ceiling. Since using the lamp, when at home we have felt more perky and happy and less lethargic. The light it emits is bright without being dazzling and is comfortable to work by or even to relax under. It was relatively easy to assemble and took just twenty minutes to have set up from opening the box. An absolute bargain for the price.

I have bought two of these lamps and they are fantastic value.The negative comments are down to not understanding how to put them together. The black plastic bit between the base and the pole is for safety in transportation only,and needs to be removed. You will also find a silver screw at the base of the pole. This is loosely in place. Remove this and line up the two holes. One in the small silver bit of the lamp base and one in the pole. Replace the screw and you will have a sturdy lamp. No wobbles. All this was done in about five minutes. Much easier than a very expensive version I once bought which took all morning to essemble. Don't be put off buying this lamp.

This gadget arrived in a box a bit larger than a shoe box and was in four pieces that have to be screwed together. It works ok and seems stable enough. It loses one star however, for the (to my mind) flimsy way it attaches to the base and because it's yet another thing which inS "Made in China!!"

Although the light the lamp gives is lovely, the construction is so flimsy and unstable it can't be made to stay in position - the connection between the base and the tube sections is just not right. The instructions are ridiculous - very detailed where it's obvious, and the one place that was a bit more complicated (connecting everything to the base) you are referred to a tiny, obscure drawing and no instructions (what on earth do you do with the rubber bit, and how do you twist the two sections without ruining the wire, and how do you affix it so it's stable?). Since it's been put together it can't be sent back, so I guess I'm stuck with it.

This was bought for a friend who is finding it difficult to read now the nights are drawing in. She is delighted with it, and it was a quick delivery. It is very sturdy, and a good weight, I have just read some previous reviews, and all I can say is that they have not read the instructions, it clearly states to remove the bit of plastic by the base, this for transportation only, and to tighten the screw on the base.

A well made lamp that is just what I wanted for my craft work at the kitchen table. It is the right height as I sit at the table to position over my work. It has a good flexible neck to adjust and position/angle where you need it. It has a good size head which projects a nice bright, clear daylight.Well packaged and easily assembled.

Brilliant Light for reading, but looks like it belongs in a dentists or laboratory .Great light for reading functional in design very sturdy
