Great value
Love the system and an unexpected find! Great sound, great looks, easy setup, perfect for my room. Enjoying my old CDs from 20 - 30 years ago, as well as lossless audio from my phone using the AUX port. I considered Panasonic, and was ready to shell out hundreds of dollars for a similar system from Denon, but they don’t have an AUX port which is needed to listen to lossless audio from Apple Music files on my phone. I was lucky to be looking right at the time it was discounted > $100, so I’m super happy with the purchase! (Written on day 2 after receiving system - hopefully will last without problems for a few years.)

6 months later....good news
I had a world of trouble settling on this system because I wanted compatibility with bluetooth headphones. After trying a lot of different stereos and headphones, I gave up and got wired headphones. Aside from that, six months later, I'm happy to report it works really well and the sound surpasses my expectations. I'm amazed at how good even cd-rs I burned twenty five years ago sound, better perhaps than on my previous stereo system. The unit and shelf speakers fit easily in a variety of spaces so there is plenty of flexibility whether it be placed in a bookshelf or media center.

Good Sound - Difficult to hook up speakers to receiver.
Difficult to connect speakers to receiver and the sound is terrible for the bluetooth/ Otherwise, pretty cool. Big clear sound when not on bluetooth.

Good sound. Great internet radio. Support nearly nonexistent.
I was a little reluctant after reading some non-US reviews under another listing mainly because of the CD player since that was the main reason for purchasing this unit (this system has been available in Europe for 1-2 years but only newly available in the US). But I finally took a chance. This sleek system sounds good, much better than the other mini stereo system I previously reviewed. Internet radio is great! And the CD player is working on this one (so far at least but always the first component to go). I had an issue connecting to internet radio that I figured out after trying to contact Philips (I got it work after selecting update time via network and a timezone). Called Philips 5x and was disconnected 4x before reaching anyone. The only time I was able to reach someone, the call was disconnected. So don't expect any real support from Philips. A side note--the full user manual is only available online. Boggles my mind why it wasn’t included since there’s a lot of info and printing it out used a lot more paper than a small booklet would have.

Dont understand why it costs so much.
I got this with the notion of it having decent output and having the spotify app on it. It doesnt really. It just uses your phone's spotify app. The app on the unit is just a bluetooth connection. Also, it is very lightweight and is way more expensive than it should be. Sound was ok, but it doesnt get very loud. So many better options out there. Returned it right away. I wound up just getting a component system.

Poorly designed remote. Cheap speaker cables. Clock setting doesn’t work. Internet radio won’t work.
I had a cheaper version of the unit. It did not many of the features claimed for this version. Unfortunately features like Internet radio, that I wanted, are hard to configure and quickly stopped working. Simple tasks like setting the clock and having it maintain accurate time have proven impossible. This unit has failed to accept many of my CDs that work in my car. Sound quality, tone and volume, are better than my previous unit. This compact stereo fits well in the mid-sized room in which it is used. Being able to play CDs and over-the-air FM radio serves most of my needs. I can use my Echo to listen to KHPR from LVNV. Sure would like the ability to play Internet radio. Setup instruction were poor. Included in box were flimsy speaker cables, they were soon replaced with some Monster cables I had handy. What I find difficult to abide is the poor design of the remote (pictured below). Note the almost hidden volume and mute buttons. Many buttons are unlabeled. NOT intuitive. Like all controllers nowadays, the back remote is had to find much less use in a darkened room. Using small, poorly placed volume buttons is poor design.

My New book shelf Philips Stereo.
Im happy with this Philips stereo sound is great and it was easy to set up. But when I have a power outage or flicker I loose the time and it resorts back to Eastern time zone. All my presets are good everything else is still good just the time goes. Weird. Anyhow still a great book shelf stereo. Cheers

A nice little system
Very pleased. A decent sound. Good connectivity. Well thought out. Moans: It does not have a balance control and the EQ is only a range of about half a dozen presets, with no actual real control. There is plenty of Bass and top end with the sound though. The remote did not have an alkaline battery, so change that before it leaks and ruins it. I could not bring myself to take a star off for these failings as generally I am very pleased. I got this during prime day so it was superb value for money.
