2-Pack Web Slings for M1 Garand USGI Style Two Point OD Cotton Web US Made

I carried an M1 and M14 during my 8 years in the USMC and the two rifles' slings looked to me to be identical. They appeared to have been made out of canvas similar to our pyramid tents. Like the tents, those slings from 55 years ago had the same odor of acrid mildew. There wasn’t much we could do about the tents but the slings got washed until the odor was barely noticeable.. Washing the slings also made them softer and easier to deal with. I ordered two of these M1 slings for two 870 Express 12 gauge shotguns, a Tactical with an 18” barrel and 6 round magazine tube and a Super Magnum with a four round magazine tube. The slings look nice, feel nice, and they don’t have that heavy canvas odor I remember so well or, for that matter, no discernible odor.. Each 870 has a sling swivel stud on the magazine caps and the Tactical has a fitting to install a sling swivel on its butt but the Super Magnum didn’t. I installed a wood screw type sling swivel stud on the Super Magnum’s butt end. Then I attached two sling per shotgun. When it was time to put on the slings, I recalled my drill instructor saying if the J hook won’t go on and the tip won’t go through the keeper, spit on them and they’ll go on just fine. I remember there being more to this, something about Rosie, someone whom drill instructors spoke about a lot, but that's for another time and place. Rather than using saliva, I sprayed the tips, keepers and J hooks with a little 100% silicone spray. The J hooks snapped on to the butt’s sling swivel with no problems and the slings' tips were easy to slide through the keepers. I took the Super Magnum out yesterday and carried it at "sling arms" for about a half mile. The sling was very comfortable, strong and easily adjusted. The only way I can think of improving this sling is to offer it for free.

It's rare a remake is as good as the originals, but these are absolutely as good if not even better than US issued slings. They are heavy duty, made well, and look great. I use these slings on everything that will fit them. Not fancy, but easy to adjust and does everything a good sling should. Works great on old milsurps as well as modern rifles. I've bought about 6 of them and absolutely love them.

Have one from a few years ago and bought two more when I took some family to an Appleseed event so they'd have better slings than the nylon two-point strap slings they bought for themselves. Just as good as the one from years ago, and well worth the cost. Easily a quality match for most $60-$70 slings. The cotton is sturdy, the web mesh is tight but not inflexible, the dye job is very good, and the parkerized hardware is high quality. These are fantastic slings, and I will certainly buy more again someday.

These are true to the original, but not necessarily in a historical sense. Hardware is more of a blue than parkerized. My use is CMP matches, so function is more important, and it's all there! Adjustments stay right where you put them. Heavy web really locks up solid in prone. Hardware is sturdy and solid.

Put these on some M&P 15 .22’s. The grandkids will will be taking the Apple Seed program late fall. These seem perfect and good quality. Will buy again
