The Do-Over
Reader’s Notes:– this is told from Emilie’s point of view– there are about 100 curse words– Emilie mentions that she was reading a book with a sex scene during class and is interrupted; her friend tells her to go watch a ‘filthy show’ in order to feel better (we don’t know the titles nor any other details beyond this; each is mentioned with only a sentence)Review:I removed a star due to the amount of cursing and the third thing(s) mentioned in the readers notes. I am not a fan of reading either of these things in books.Despite removing a star, the storyline was very interesting! Time really flew reading this book. I loved how the day kept repeating and it took Emilie a bit to figure out what was happening as well as what she wanted to do with it. I really enjoyed all of her interactions with her two best friends and Nick. I liked how both of her friends tried to support Emilie in her relationship with her boyfriend. Neither of them liked him, but wanted her to be happy more-so. I loved that they cheered her on when Emilie chose to switch gears and be more herself and when she recognized that she didn’t love her boyfriend. Nick was an awesome love interest! I loved that Lynn Painter gave us as readers little bits about Nick in the days when Emilie was focused on fixing her current relationship before Emilie switched gears on what she wanted to do with her reoccurring day. Nick was so fun with Emilie and their adventure. I absolutely adored their grand gesture towards the end of the book and was so happy to see these characters recognize that they were great together!Summary:Emilie has plans for the best Valentine’s Day ever. But when every single one of those plans breaks, as well as a few other things in her life, it ends up being one of the worst days of her life. All she wants to do at the end of the day is go to her safe place with her grandmother to be comforted, so she does. But the next day, instead of waking up at her grandmother’s, Emilie is back home and has a sense of deja vu when the same things that occurred the day before happen once again. And why does her phone say that it is still Valentine’s Day? Could her ‘yesterday’ have actually been a bad dream? When day after day, Emilie still finds herself in a loop of Valentine’s Days, she decides to take matters into her own hands. If she’s going to wake up each morning with no one remembering the day before, Emilie is determined to have a day of no consequences doing whatever she feels like. And after the dumpster fire that was her relationship, maybe she’ll invite the boy she’s met multiple times during this loop…

Enjoyed!
This rom-com was really cute, and a fast read. It's a simple love story about Emilie, who finds herself stuck in a time loop on Valentine's Day. She keeps encountering her boyfriend, Josh, cheating on her and crossing paths with Nick in different situations each time she relives the day.I love Lynn Painter's work and her amazing writing for creating fun rom-coms. I did think The Do-Over was lacking a little bit. I expected more. Nevertheless, this was a nice concept about time travel, young teenage love, and the choices you make that lead you to the most unexpected places.☆ 3.5 stars

It was a slow start, but man, did i love the Ending
I read the sample, loved it. Bought the book. . . Kind of was slow...I didn't want to finish it, but tonight i remembered it, and even from the beginning it was funny and that was enought:I didn't stop until the end { 2:25am on a Thursday night}I didn't see the end coming, i kind of had an idea about what was going to happen {logically}but I wasn't prepared for the way it came about, the quipped shuffle, the tattoo, the jacket...his brother. It all came together perfectly... thought i do wish there was an epilogue, besides the implied HEAAll in all this was a,-funny-rom-com-that mentions his brother dying-that touches on family drama-a kiss, cheating ex-and a MMC that doesn't believe in fate.Comes with an implied HEA

Lynn Painter never misses!
My book was delivered in good condition, read for my reveiw:My third Lynn Painter book and my third 5 star review for her. Her writing is truly magical. The is my first YA book from her and I have to say I’m so excited to read Better than the movies next! Her writing feels a little different from her adult romance books but still absolutely incredible. I cannot believe how well she nails both genres. This was a fun and short read! Every time I picked up the book I did not want to put it down. Watching Em go through the same day over and over again was so enjoyable and I always wondered how she would try and change things up next.Nick Stark was the perfect love interest. The Jess Mariano vibes are immaculate. I loved him and their banter. All the little things Em put together from talking to him each day.The day repeating to bring them together just melted my heart and when you find out the reasoning.. oh my goodness. There was some more intense topics discussed such as divorced parents, feeling ignored, and death of a family member but everything felt so well done. The lightness of the book mixed perfectly with the serious topics as well.

pretty good
good book, it was a cute light read, finished in two days and it had a few kissing scenes but that was it, but had a good plot and good character development, is very similar to lynn painter’s other books but if i had to say my favorite it’d be betting on you but this one was really good too. might just be my version but there was no way extra content at the end except for excerpt of another book but overall 4.2/5 stars
