Good, solid bar (minus untimely accident)
Have used this bar for the last 2 years for outdoor field recording with 2 NT1A mics and their SM6 shock mounts. Usually weighs approx. 9 pounds when both mics are connected to the bar. A loose connection recently caused my setup to drop about 2 feet to a wooden floor, but fortunately the bar took the brunt of the force and only gouged the stereo bar's female threads flat due to the distance and weight (my fault for not double-checking connections, not a failure of the bar to be clear). Setup landed on one end mainly. No damage to shock mounts or mics fortunately, but now it's time for another stereo bar as a result. Hoping I can still make use of the old bar by drilling out the flattened threads one day, but I digress). Mine didn't originally come with any 3/8" to 5/8" adapter. However, this was easily remedied with the Ultimate Support 21600N Threaded Mic Stand Adapter and a couple of barrel adapters (5/8" on the outside and 3/8" on the inside) from here on Amazon. Excellent little bar, though. Up until the untimely dropping event above, everything had worked wonderfully for 2 years. Have recorded a ton of different places both indoors & outdoors over the last 2 years. And, it's been the backbone of everything I've done, especially with the 9-12 pounds of equipment (mics, shock mounts, stereo bar itself, adapters, and windscreen stuff) I pile on it 98% of the time. I don't use it with a typical mic stand. The 9-12 lbs of weight on this stereo bar requires me to use a 4-inch on-stage posi-lok clutch, also avail. here on Amazon. I tried a typical mic stand once with this much weight and it didn't work very well at all, even with a counterweight. Granted, the stereo bar handled it all just fine, and all the better with the posi-lok clutch. NOTE: All female threads and both male threads on this bar are 3/8" (*not* the standard 5/8" used here in the US), so be sure to consider that when buying it. If you plan to use it with 5/8" connections, you'll definitely need adapters (which has been my case).

Excellent Double Mic Bar, fits 3/8" and 5/8" threads
This mic bar is well made, it feels solid and the finish is smooth. It comes with two 3/8" female to 5/8" male adapters, so you can use it with any standard 3/8" or 5/8" mic mounts.Pros:----------------------------+ Strong and durable, the construction quality and finish are both excellent.+ Adjustable mic mounts work perfectly, very easy to mount and unmount mics to them or adjust the position.+ Includes 3/8" to 5/8" adapters+ Bottom female 5/8" threaded mount is perfect, large easy to grip textured outer casing+ Great value for the moneyCons / Considerations:----------------------------- Included 3/8" to 5/8" adapters can get stuck in your mic mounts. Taller adapters with some grip below the threads for easy removal would have been better.Note: the item I received differs from the current product picture on Amazon. As of this review, the product picture shows a threaded stud in the middle of the mount. The item I received does not have a middle stud, only two outer adjustable studs. I have uploaded a picture here:http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/permalink/mo1XBMA2SRGWFBJ/B001G43G96/

Awesome for using 2 mics on a cab
Really happy with the sturdiness and versatility of this.Being able to slide the mics around to fine-tune their position is pretty essential.Once in place and firmly thumb-screwed down, the mics stay where you want them. The sturdiness does make the mic bar a little heavy, which combines with the weight of TWO mics can pose some challenges for mic stand balance. I’m using mini stands and have to very carefully align a leg with the boom arm or the whole thing topples over.Uploading a pic of the current setup. Managed to get an SM57 and a Heil PR30b to work together, despite them using VERY different clips / mounts. No concerns with this bar. When I finally get a pair of SDC mics, I’ll buy another so I can mic up my acoustic properly.Great product. Love it when something works as intended straight away!

Perfect for stereo techniques with small spacing
The bar is well made and affordable, with serviceable (individually replaceable) parts for each piece that has mic threads. This and a pair of quality condensor microphones are just what is need for recording with all the narrow spaced stereo techniques. The center piece, as usual, attaches to the normal threads of the mic stand or boom, and the microphones holders attach to the movable pair of threaded devices in the slots. The largest separation dimension for the two mic holders is 173mm - a bit further out than ORTF's 17cm.I purchased this bar to do mainly ORTF stereo recording with two large diameter cardiod condensor mics purchased for this purpose. Two shock mounts to hold the large mic bodies, so with a very slight inward angle a perfect 17cm is easily achieved, and everything works just as it should. With different microphones and techniques the details will vary; this device facilitates getting the given capsules to the proper spacing and angle. This bar would also easily facilitate X-Y, Blumlein pair, and a variety of other stereo recording setups with narrow spacing, depending on the microphones' holders and the particular technique. If these applications apply to your situation, this bar is highly recommended.

Fazit : Meine Kaufempfehlung.

Poorly designed?
Despite criticisms posted here, this unit is great. Sturdy, well constructed, very adjustable, and tight. Doesn't need washers. Great price, too, compared to say the Rode unit.
