Very useful before MOT checks and warning lights
I’ve used this Carista OBD2 scanner many times, especially before taking the car for its MOT, and it’s been really helpful for checking fault codes and monitoring the car beforehand. Setup is simple through Bluetooth and the app connects quickly without complicated installation. The scanner itself is compact and easy to keep in the glovebox when needed. One of the best features is being able to view live data and run basic diagnosis checks directly from a phone. It helped us identify smaller issues early and reset certain warning lights before booking repairs. The app is easy to navigate even without advanced mechanical knowledge, and compatibility with our vehicle has been very good so far. For the price, I think it offers strong value for money considering how much information and functionality it provides. The only small downside is that some advanced features require a subscription within the app, so that’s worth knowing in advance. Overall, a practical, easy to use and reliable diagnostic tool for everyday drivers and MOT preparation.

So helpful...addicted to using it now
Amazing! So helpful, and has already saved me £100s in diagnosing an issue that was simple to fix myself. Also, checks battery health and tyre pressure. Which is a nice bonus. You do need to pay for a subscription to get the most out of it (£60 per year), but is definitely worth it.

Does the Job, Good for the DIYer, Some Features locked behind Paywall
Very cheap, effective OBD scanner for VAG group cars. Wish it came with a lifetime access for the full features as it is locked behind a "paywall". It will do the job for the average DIYer who doesn't want to pay extortionate prices for an OBD reader. I've used it to good success on my VW Golf 2014, just paid for a 1 month subscription when I needed to access features behind the paywall, still far cheaper than a garage

Just brilliant
There are plenty of other reviews that tell you what this is good at but here is my contribution. I bought it for my Seat Leon ST FR 2.0 TDi (184) so that I can use the `VAG DPF`app (£3.30 from App store) on my phone to monitor my DPF levels. The car is nearly 5 years old with 93,000 miles on the clock. Like a lot of diesel drivers, you can't view your DPF soot levels or when the car is due/attempting/failing to complete a DPF regen. Having been a bit of a dark art (the manufacturers seem to like it that way), you can now see your real time figures, see how healthy your DPF is, when a regen is taking place and whether your driving style is suiting a DPF equipped car. The beauty of the adaptor is that it just allows your car to `talk` to your phone via Bluetooth and allows you to use any 3rd party apps on your phone. Unlike cheaper/less capable makes, this reads all of the ECU's in your car, so you can not only diagnose issues with engine management lights (most cheaper units can do this but with little detail or the inability to reset the EML), but also more complex areas like ABS, airbags etc. (to do this you need an appropriate app). Carista also have their own app that you can use for 30 days for free and then pay a monthly/annual subscription. This does allow you use view/clear fault codes and also tweak some of the cars settings (this varies depending on brand/model but can be checked on the Carista web-site). I plan to have the car alarm beep on lock/unlock, turn on folding mirrors on lock (rather than press and hold keyfob) and maybe tweak some other bits (before the free 30 days are up). So - if you use the adaptor with 3rd party apps, it could cost no more than the purchase price. If you want to use the optional Carista software on your phone after 30 days, there will be a cost. Still far cheaper and easier than paying a garage for diagnostics and I think it's brilliant. Also VERY useful when buying a second hand diesel car, as you can plug it in and check the DPF Oil Ash Residue (OAR) levels to see if your DPF is likely to need replacing soon. Or as in one extreme case, a car had 100,000 taken off it and the high OAR values proved it was much higher mileage than advertised. For £20 (adaptor and DPF app), you can know a lot more about the murky world of DPF's and not rely on expensive dealer diagnostics. I might report back when I've tweaked my car! 22.1.19 UPDATE - so far so good. I now have: Single press unlock (all doors) * LED Daylight running lights (DLR) on rear now always on (called Scandanavian DLR) Alarm beep on lock/unlock * Dual dial sweep (both dials do a full sweep when you turn iginition on - it's a vanity thing) Electric folding mirrors on locking (you had to hold the key fob button down before) Some of the above are activated straight away through the app. Other are now activated in the car settings (you couldn't access them before) and you need to go through the car settings on the dash to activate them (marked with a * above). I'm quite happy for the money spent!

Works as it said. Effortless and convenient!
Brilliant. Detected all faults and cleared them (Although that cost me an extra £15) but worth it! Very happy deffo keeping.

Top DIY OBD
This is a great little device, although you have to sign up and pay a fee for the full data its worth it rather than paying a garage for the same amount. This is far better than a basic obd reader and worth the extra money This reader gave me live diagnostics and which gave me exactly what I needed, to find and rectify the fault in my car.

SUBSCRIPTION ONLY! Nothing is free!
Personally I think this overpriced paperweight deserves 0 stars, but we must have some moral respect for products on here. I purchased the original adapter back in June 2024. Only for them to lock all the features behind a paywall OR if you purchase the EVO variant. Was prepared to spend the few extra pennies on the Evo model in October 2024. Worked great when I got it, all diagnostics were free and easy to understand, and clear. I used it throughout 2025, even paying for a month so I could customise my car a little bit (albeit the features are no where near as detailed as OBDEleven) I’ve just gone to use the product today and… low and behold, NOTHING is free anymore for my vehicle. Everything is now behind a paywall for a mere £60 per year, on top of the £50 product. This is absurd and makes this product completely useless without a subscription. You aren’t using anything of theirs for them to charge, so I’m unsure why it’s all subscription based. Contacted Carista customer service and they defend their company by saying “advanced features require subscription” despite their website saying otherwise. Amazon have allowed me to return the product for a full refund. STAY WAY CLEAR OF THIS PRODUCT

Poor for unlocking additional functions on new cars.
The app is easy to use and the quality of the product is good. Fault clearing and error code reading is also good. The unlocking of additional functions on your vehicles not so great. Seems as though the system is not up to date with later vehicles. I only purchased to turn off annoying alerts on a 2024 Range Rover and a 2026 VW Amarok. It doesn’t work on either. Only upgrades are for day running lights. Disappointed when compared to the marketing.

BRAVO Carista!!! Shame on you OBD Eleven.
Tried OBD Eleven before and it failed completely, despite promises for Toyota and Lexus group couldn't do anything but to see correct model and basic car info. Bravo Carista, well done! Works well for 2023 Lexus RZ450e. Lots of options can be customized and upgraded. 2024 Renault Austral not recognized yet, but hopefully it will be upgraded in near future. Good job lads, GOOD JOB!

Get launch control counter info for Audi S4 and any trouble codes - this is FREE functionality with Carista!
There are lots of great reviews on this item, so I encourage you to research what IS and what IS NOT included "for free" with this device. I wanted to focus on what this is an absolutely ESSENTIAL tool to buy if you are looking to buy a used Audi S4 (or any other vehicle that this unit applies to that has a launch control counter). Audi S4s with the automatic transmission have a launch control feature; basically the engine revs and the automatic clutch gets dumped, and you shoot off like a rocket. Well, this is quite hard on the vehicle, and as a result Audi limits the number of launches to 200 maximum for the life of the vehicle (at least this is the case for the 2010-2016 Audi S4 range). So when buying a used S4, one of THE best ways to verify if the car has lived a hard life working the local drag strips is to see just how many times the vehicle has been launched in this manner. Enter the Carista device! All you need to do is download the app, plug in the box into the OBD port, and you immediately will have a very quick and easy way to check the number of launches. Best of all - you do NOT need to set up an account, fill out any forms, or buy anything whatsoever; this is default functionality that is completely free and requires NO additional setup or hassle. I wound up buying a used S4 with only 7 launches. Note that I originally went with the XTool VAG401 handheld scanning device, and I hate it. It is incredibly slow, menus are completely wrong in many cases, and after struggling for about 3 hours, I gave up on finding the launch control counter (yes, I fully researched VCDS menus and code blocks, downloaded the latest update for the tool, and had no luck). The Carista device immediately could tell me that there were NO trouble codes, and gave me an immediate answer on the number of launches. So yes, there are tons of detailed settings that Carista can help you easily adjust, and many of these functions do require you to pay money (at least beyond the initial free 30 days), BUT if you want a really easy to use device that can tell you if there are any trouble codes, AND give you launch control counter information, all INCLUDED FOR FREE permanently as part of the device, then do yourself a favor and snag a Carista device!
