DO NOT BUY - Unless YOU love GL-iNET
I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!... I know, I know, that might seem like a plot twist, given the headline. But stick with me for a second. I’ve been the proud (and occasionally frustrated) owner of this portable router since February 2024, and while it’s a sleek little piece of hardware when it works, there are a few too many "buts" that have me questioning my purchase. Let’s break it down: 1. IT OVERHEATS. And when I say overheats, I mean like a Hollywood action hero running through a fireball, except less cool and more inconvenient. If you live or travel anywhere warm, prepare to watch your router go from hero to zero in record time. August 16th will go down in history as the day my Mudi v2’s battery decided it was done. It no longer functions on the go, though it still works when connected to a power outlet. So much for portable. 2. Incapable hardware. Yeah, I said it. My dream was to pop in a 1TB MicroSD card and have my own little media hub, sharing files and movies across all my devices. But alas, this dream was crushed. Whether the feature was quietly axed or never really there, it turns out the hardware just isn’t up to the task. Sure, OpenWRT could bring it back from the dead, but that’s like adding jet fuel to a paper airplane. Expect more overheating. Yay. 3. Battery life that’ll leave you thirsty. Speaking of power, this thing drains faster than a man lost in the Sahara with a single bottle of water. Even in standby mode, the battery’s doing everything but saving itself. You’ll be charging this little guy more often than you’d like to admit. 4. 4G (but maybe 5G if you’re willing to sell a kidney). Yes, the WiFi antenna is replaceable and upgradable to 5G, but here’s the kicker—it’ll cost you almost as much as a new Mudi V2. Ouch. So, what’s my advice? Hold off for something better. Grab yourself a simple, cheap 4G travel router that doesn’t promise the moon and leave you with a handful of moon rocks. Or, if you’re still into GL-iNet, consider one of their other routers that doesn’t have a battery. At least those know what they’re doing. Update Feb 14th 2025: Because the device was still under warranty and my battery died unable to use it on the go, GL-INET was very straightforward and diligent to send me a new uni, right now I have a brand new Mudi sealed in the box, mostly because the novelty wear off and I don't need a device like this currently as I am WFH and I have the GL-INET Beryl, which does the job. I've updated my stars from 3 to 4 because of the customer service and their reliability. I would love to keep the Mudiv2 but as it is now it still lacks what I am looking on all rounded product. My priorities have also changed and I don't require to be on Wifi all the time, and my phone does the job better with hotspot, as it overheats less or not at all. This product just need more baking, however if I had to travel again, i would probably use the beryl in combination with my phone. Final UPDATE!!: A NEW UPGRADED VERSION WILL BE RELEASED IN FEBRUARY 2026! MUDI 7 5G, search it! And YES, I AM SORRY but it will be probably double the price of this one, but surely more up to the task. I am buying it...I am not saying you should. But it will probably be the best piece of travel hardware out there this 2026! Sayonara!!!

Disappointed!
Really slow and battery life about 5-6 hours max. With one connected device. Keeps heating up and very slow speed. On and off my phone says no internet. I get more speed from sim card if i insert it in my galaxy s24. Disappointed. Gets hot and no internet half of the time. Same network i use in my phone and have no issues. Even with full signals as shown in picture i dont have internet and have to use my phone data.

No info difficult to set up
Not an easy setup, it's advertised as having an SD card slot, but they have removed the software for Network Storage for some reason. So, you need to install Samba, WebDAV etc manually if you want to use USB or SD storage. Setting up the internet repeater wasn't straight forward as it kept dropping the WiFi signal from the router as it has no internet connection, while you are connecting it to the internet!... obviously! So once that was all sorted, I now have a router with file access for all my gadgets, so I am happy with that. Unless you know what you are doing with this one, I suspect there are easier options.

So SLOW…really really SLOW
I like Gl.inet and have two of their other routers so I expected to be pleased with the Mudi V2. I’m not, I’m really disappointed. It looks fine although the screen is tiny but….it takes 4 minutes to start and get connected to the internet using sim. It is a real pain. Then the battery life…turned on but not using…about 6 hours….for a travelling router surely it should last all day, I really don’t find that acceptable. It also gets quite warm and although it has supposedly a power bank facility, the charge rate is also terribly slow. So it doesn’t live up to expectation. Putting it into ‘standby’ rather defeats the objective in my case and anyway doesn’t add much battery life. Really sadly I’m having to return it.

Don't consider anything else.
The Ultimate Privacy router (at least for 4G). I had a firmware issue, registered on their website and an engineer sent me an update/patvh within days... amazing.

Ottimo MA attenzione
Veramente ottimo, funziona perfettamente con TIM. Unico punto, devi sapere cosa stai facendo e cosa stai comprando, non è plug and play.
