Q: Will the vertical plate clamp loosen or deform in long-term use?

It won't loose unless you exceed the weight limit. Also, for safety reasons, all our products were tested on and passed 4X max load test, which is 8800lb for this spec. However, we do not recommend use above weight limit.

Q: What is the thickest plate i can carry with this clamp?

Hi Edmund. You can use this clamp on a plate with a thickness up to 0.8 inch and max weight of 2200lb. We carried out 4X max load tests on all of our clamps, which is 8800lb for this spec, so as long as it was used according to our manual there should be very few safety issues.
