4K@120Hz 12Bit RGB HDR10 FreeSync on Visio 50" MXQ TV works with Nvidia RTX 4090! 👍
I recently replaced all my 7+ year old dying Samsung 50" 60hz SDR 4K screens in my Nerd Cave on my PC setup with brand new Vizio 50" M-Series Quantum X QLED HDR 120hz screens that support FreeSync and on my computer setup (You probably have seen it on YouTube). I noticed immediately that I didn't get an option to enable FreeSync on the display attached to my expensive Club3D DP-to-HDMI adapter, but my screen directly plugged into the single HDMI port on my RTX 4090 had this option. I thought it could be the cable, so I swapped it out with an overkill active powered cable and still didn't get the option.I tried multiple other adapters I had laying around, but they couldn't even get me as close as the active Club3D adapter not allowing HDR10 or 10bit color (let alone 12bit that the screen supports). I also had problems with some adapters not even allowing me to 120hz or the full RGB color space, only limited. I can tell you right now the biggest problem with getting the full capabilities of your display come down to the cable and adapter you use! So many cables and adapters are mislabeled for standards that they couldn't even test for before the cable was made. So make sure you don't spend hours like I did trouble shooting other things before making darn sure the cable and adapter are 100% capable of doing what you want first using a known good setup somewhere. This adapter was my hail-Mary since Club3D got back to me and said none of their adapters supported G-Sync/FreeSync and that the adapter I had was the best thing they made, and it would give me up to 8k@60 HDR but wouldn't give me FreeSync. I plugged this adapter in and the screen wouldn't even sync which made me think I made a huge mistake thinking such a cheap adapter could be true. Well, I rebooted the PC and the screen sync'd right now. I just think whatever settings it was using with the Club3D when I disconnected it weren't compatible with this dongle or something along those lines. The reboot immediately solved the problem and when it booted into Windows I opened Nvidia Control panel and made a run for the G-Sync panel and to my surprise it allowed me to enable it and the TV menu confirmed it was enabled and working! 👏I still was stunned by this since this cheap adapter doesn't require external power and is about 1/5th the size of the Club3D active powered adapter I was using. And the screen and the OS menus confirm that I had indeed enabled 4k@120hz HDR10 FreeSync 12Bit RGB Full Color Space and everything is working flawlessly without any hiccups I can find so far. I still am blown away that something that is so cheap can give me more functionality than the most expensive and highest rated adapter on the market which has always been Club3D hence why they charge such a premium for their products. The Club3D adapter that is about the same price as this one can't even do 4k@60 hardly SDR let alone all of this. The best part is I no longer have to eat up 2 USB ports for power to the adapters since this is an unpowered adapter and it just fits in line with the HDMI cable giving it a DVI port on one hand and HDMI on the other. I haven't used this adapter for more than a day so far so I can't speak to its durability, but I can confirm that it's doing what it's supposed to and doesn't appear to be adding any noticeable lag to the display and there is no red/blue mask around white text that you would see with low chroma sub sampling or heavy compression. The image quality and motion is indistinguishable from the HDMI port directly plugged screen using the active HDMI cable which is the higher quality much more expensive cable also.If you use this adapter and you still can't enable 120hz at 4k or 60hz at 8k or HDR won't enable when you know the screen is capable it's 100% your cable that is the problem and you should swap it out with a known good one that is rated for HDMI 2.1a I believe or "48Gbps+". Most problems people encounter it comes down to the cable or adapter and I can confirm this adapter does exactly what it says. Some things to note though, this adapter only will give you 4:2:2 chroma sub sampling in YcBr color mode, but in RGB mode it will give you the full color space without any chroma subsampling at all. So make sure you put your TV in RGB mode (it usually defaults to this with modern screens) and make Nvidia Control Panel select RGB instead of YbCr422. The default HDMI port on RTX 4090 does support YbCr444 natively but selecting RGB gives you the same exact picture quality without any artifacts even on small white text. My other adapters that only did YbCr420 or 422 always showed masking around edges of images and aliasing because of compression but RGB looks perfect and Windows even reports it as "Uncompressed" which is great! There is no better DP-HDMI adapter on the market and this one is by far the cheapest I've found that properly and fully supports DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 which most don't properly. I'm not sure how they can sell this so cheap but I'm not going to ask too many questions since this is a very under rated item and the only negative reviews come from people obviously using the wrong HDMI cable and blaming the adapter for the problem or not configuring their driver settings correctly.Oh, one more thing, a review said they had to create their own custom display mode, I didn't have to do this since everything showed up natively as if the screen was plugged right into the HDMI port on the card so my guess is that the cable they were using was slightly under spec or the EDID info from the display was confusing to the graphics driver so they had to much about a bit and got it working, so if you don't see the modes and you know you have a good cable try creating a custom resolution and see if the display syncs.Extra Tips:----------------If you can't see 120hz in Nvidia Control panel when you look at set resolution section you need to open Windows Display Settings, go down to Advanced Display and select the refresh rate from there and if you don't see it there open properties and look at "All Refresh Rates" and select 120hz. Once you do that then the option will start showing up under Nvidia Control panel and you won't have any more problems. I suspect this has something to do with a compatibility mode in Windows where it only shows 60hz or lower refresh rates by default even when 120hz is possible to prevent people from accidentally desyncing their screens in software that won't let them Easly revert back if the settings don't hold. This is only speculation on my part but I had to do it myself back when I hooked my bedroom TV up which was also 120hz and I couldn't see the option under Nvidia Control panel until I did this. I hope this helps a few of you out there!*UPDATE*Just found out this adapter also allows up to 1080p@240hz for those of you that prefer frame rate over resolution and have a screen that can do it. Lucky for me these Vizio screens I picked up can do it! Really cool for driving sims and flight sims! Thanks,Jerry (aka. Unable to achieve advertised refresh rate
As per the previous reviews, this didn’t work as advertised. 4k 60hz was the highest resolution and refresh rate I could get. Returned as I needed 4k 120hz.

Great DP to HDMI adapter
I recently bought a new ultra wide monitor for use with two systems and my only outputs for video are DisplayPort while the monitor has 1 DP and 2 HDMI. I tried an adapter I had laying around but since it was rated for HDMI 1.4 it was not able to handle the resolution. After searching around on Amazon this one came up on sale and even the cheapest DP to HDMI adapter I found. Couldn't be happier and will order again should the need arise.

Works Like a Champ
This is the way to get the most out of your HDMI cables when DisplayPort is on one side, and HDMI is on the other. This adapter saved me having to buy another really long HDMI cable. Works great.

No VRR. Other options are cheaper.
Tested with 2080ti and LG C2 OLED. 4K@120hz and HDR worked great. Left at 10 bpc because 12 bpc gives the image an overall "surgical room" glow that washes colors out a little bit. No support for VRR/G-SYNC/FREESYNC of any sort. May be due to my card, so your mileage may vary. I will be keeping because I got it on sale, but I wouldn't get it for the current price, especially because VRR didnt work and I can obtain other adapters that do the same things for cheaper.

Didn't work for me, could be my OS.
I've done all I can to test this DP to HDMI adapter. I've tested each of three Display Ports and the HDMI cable as functional and can get no video while using this adapter, even after restarts. I continue to use HDMI although my monitor is DP capable and 120hz. Having said this, I am using Windows 7 (yes I'm one of the stubborn ones) and this may be my fault, therefore only taking off one star. I hope to make use of the DP to HDMI adapter in the future. I will say the quality of build and materials appear to be top quality. Due to the low cost and reliable company I believe if you have the need it's worth a try.

Works as expected
This little thing worked fine for my needs (connecting a PC monitor). Can't say much about the techy visual quality as this wasn't my need. But it works as expected!
