I Don't Recommend
This is a technical/cosmetic review. The "tl;dr" version:I don't recommend the Jakcom R3 Ring. It doesn't work as a door access system device as advertised, NFC capabilities are difficult to use, the cosmetic finish is subpar. The full review:I purchased this ring for a specific purpose. I don't care about "healing" stones, magnets, minerals. I don't have enough information or desire to evaluate such things. As I said before I purchased this ring for a specific purpose: Door Control AccessOn the Jakcom.com website, it states that this ring is compatible with various door access control systems. I manage one of these systems (HID in particular) as my companies network administrator. My door access system didn't even acknowledge that I tried to use this ring. I ensured that it wasn't my sensor plate by trying another access. Same result. My regular ID cards used with my system can be held a good 2 or 3 inches away from the sensor plate and be recognized. I tapped, spun, and even laid flat this ring all over the sensor plate with no indication of being read.As for the NFC features of this ring, I was disappointed. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S10+. First, getting the Android software was a bit concerning as the app is no longer on the Google Play Store. The Jakcom website (which is the setup up instruction manual) offers a link to the Play Store, but it's dead. Searching the Play Store doesn't find the Jakcom NFC app. So with no success of getting an official Play Store app, I went ahead and sideloaded the app for which Jakcom also offered a direct download for. The app is a little clunky, but that's not important. Getting my phone to actually communicate with the ring was beyond difficult. You can say that this ring isn't using NFC (Near Field Communication), but rather TPC (TouchPoint Communication) .... if you're lucky. I had to "fish" around for a few seconds in order for my two devices to finally link up. Each time it was never quite the same. To use this ring as an NFC device to automate your day or to share information with others will be an insane chore for anyone. I had this much trouble with no cases, not extended battery packs.Moving on to cosmetics:At first, I was happy with the look Jakcom R3 Ring. I had read/watched a review or two about the rings cosmetics and it was stated that the reviewers thought the ring looked cheap. I didn't feel that way. The stones/magnets are positioned well and don't feel weird. I like the polished black look. The ring didn't seem too big, but it definitely was bigger than my wedding band. It was thicker too and I could feel this between my fingers. It wasn't an uncomfortable feeling. I did get used to it after a day. But speaking of a day... I have only owned this ring for about 36 hours now. I haven't worn it in the last 12. If you can see by the pictures, the edges of the ring have noticeably lost paint. Yes, paint, as I can only describe it. The edges came looking of the same black polished finished that the ring's face has, but after wearing it for a day, that finish has started to be replaced with looks to be more of a simple metal color. I hadn't done anything exceptional during that 24hrs. There was no reason for the finish to come off this quickly. In conclusion:I cannot recommend the Jakcom R3 ring for technical reasons. It doesn't function fully as advertised. What functionality it does have, will be difficult to use, if you could get better results. Cosmetically, I think that the ring will deteriorate at an alarming rate -- the black finish just disappearing to be a silver-ish finish.I didn't give the ring a 1 star on this review because I didn't want to opinionate on the health potentials of the healing effects this ring claims to offer through its inclusion of stones/magnets. I'll let someone with a more in-depth knowledge of such things to do so. With all that I found (or not found), I will be returning this product.
