CAIG Laboratories G5S-6 CAIG DeoxIT GOLD Contact Enhancer, 5 Spray, 5 Oz

Note: The vendor shipped me a DIFFERENT PRODUCT, so this review is of my prior 30+ years of use of G5. (And D5 and F5)Most people in the music industry are using D5, mostly because they are simply unaware of G5 while they actually should be using G5.Why G5 over D5? The simplest answer is because G5 adds a protectant that D5 does not, which I can definitively attest to guitar and guitar amp pots and switches with G5 applied (vs just D5) seeming to never need contact maintenance even after 2 decades, whereas guitars/amps in which only D5 was used, contacts and wipers do continue to oxidize and require additional maintenanceThe Integrated straw is fantastic, but this product with the yellow integrated straw is difficult to find and it seems like something has changed in the design of the non-integrated nozzle and straw… the standard (non-integrated) straw WAS designed to fit very tightly so it can withstand the Flushing Action of High Pressure spray delivery, however in the past few months I have received 3 cans of current production D5 where the straw is loose where even on L it just flies off… compared to the older cans, I attempted to determine WHY? And what’s consistent is that the nozzle slot for the straw is a few microns too large for the straw. Also, it oddly seems like the plastic the Nozzle is made out of on these newer cans is softer than the older cans.

I have this old radio/record player i use in my little shop and it always made scratchy noises and would cut out audio on either side randomly when i turned the dials. I actually just took the easy way out and only took the knobs off and sprayed right inside from the frontplate and it still worked. Sounds good as new, much cheaper then having to buy a new unit.

I sold hi end audio starting back in 1988, I was told by my boss to spray every cable in the shop and I have been sold on this 30 years now! I know Deoxit was called another name back then but was made by the same company who makes it now CAIG Labs. Back then we had a red you used 1st then a blue. Same as now as I use the Deoxit 1st the the gold last for my deep clean but this gold does work alone. I keep in on my home office desk and use it on every electrical connection from PC to stereo to car, golf cart, Motorcycle to flash lights and let me tell you, the flash light test works! Use this and the flashlight will be brighter with the same batteries prior to use so must help a stereo right? I install pro audio now and use it with a new big AV install on every connector from XLR to RCA to HDMI then try and go back and use it once a year. Keeps things connecting as it should and protects against oxidation. The microphones even "feel" better when connecting. I think this is perhaps the only product except my shampoo that I can give a 100% rating the last 30 years and that I use almost every day on something! I can't imagine even using a flashlight without this stuff 1st! I spray it on everything electrical, even my outdoor light bulbs and indoor bulbs get a spray! Perfect Product!

The standard when it comes to cleaning electrical connections

Especially for fine electrical contacts, easily the best cleaner/lube. However, the new design for the cap/dispenser/straw reduces precision and I swapped the nozzle off my old can to use.

After cleaning with detoxic I use the gold and air dry

I use this on stereo component connection knobs and switches and line level cables. Also use on the rocker switches on the handlebars of my Gl 1800 Honda motorcycle. The rocker switches get oxidized riding in rain and dusty enviornments and do not respond properly requiring u to jiggle back and fourth. A shot of deoxit and its like new for about year.
