Best tool to open the trigger guard.
Saw this at the CMP Advanced Maintenance Class. This tool works well and it's well made, it sure looks like it'll last awhile - which is a good thing, since Garands seem to last forever as well! As long as you take care of them. I've used every trick in the book to open a difficult trigger guard. This is the best way.

Worked on my M1 Garand
Saw one of these at the CMP maintenance class so I looked on Amazon and was surprised to find this one.

Unlocks trigger guard on M1 and M14 rifles with ease.
Where was this device when I was in charge of an JROTC Armory with plenty of M1 Garand rifles? It is so easy to hook the rear loop of the trigger guard and rotate to release the trigger guard assembly. It sure beats tearing up your fingers to begin disassembly of the rifle.
