Parents of T1D kids who hate taking off bandages - these start peeling in a week! YAY!
PARENTS, IF YOUR T1D KID HATES TAKING OFF BANDAGES, TRY THESE. My kindergartener was diagnosed with T1D about 6 months ago. Out of all the uncomfortable things she needs to deal with for us to manage her diabetes, right now, taking off the bandages when we have to change her CGM is actually the worst. She's already very afraid of how much it will hurt to rip off a band-aid, which is normal for a little kid. Then we put on her Dexcom and there's an adhesive part on it, and the little adhesive circle you put around it, AND a big overpatch... taking all of those off just sucks. When she was first diagnosed, I ordered the Kovoq overpatches that are shaped like cute animals, hoping to give kiddo something to get enthusiastic about. She did like picking those out and showing them off at school. Also, the hard shell works great, we never have pressure lows. Now that I've ordered my second pack, I have two of the shells, which means I can put on kiddo's new CGM and overpatch, let it start calibrating, and give her a good break before we start on the next painful task of removing her old one. Love it. Also, kiddo has sensitive skin, but she hasn't had problems from the Kovoq adhesive. But what I noticed was that the shapes of the animal ones, and how large they are, really made them hard to take off. So I started purposely looking for some patches (of any brand, I wasn't wedded to Kovoq) where the reviews said that the patches DON'T always stay on for as long as the reviewers wanted. I also wanted them to be smaller circle ones so that there would just be less surface area covered with adhesive that we had to remove. THESE ARE PERFECT. I got the 32 pack of tie dye and glitter looking ones, which also came with some free holiday ones, and kiddo is thrilled with all those options. No disappointment that they aren't shaped like animals. And, with normal kindergartener activity and baths, the patches start peeling at the edges after about a week. They stay on, but by the time we reach the end of her 10 day Dexcom unit's life, there are usually a few places where the patches have completely detached, and it's MUCH easier to get them off her without pain. Perfect balance honestly. Do they look a little ratty when we're getting close to CGM change day? Yes they do. I don't care. Any adult who's looking at my T1D kid's arm and judging her frayed, peeling Halloween themed band-aid in June can fight me. I think we've used 4 or 5 of these so far, and there was 1 that we did end up helping out with a band-aid over the edge so that it would make it through the last couple days. I'm totally fine with that ratio. Maybe when she's a little older she'll want to try the cool shaped ones again, or want to shop around for some that stick and stay neat for the whole time, but right now these are a fantastic find for us.

Sticking great in South Texas heat - made it whole sensor life
very pleased with the product -- I especially like the round dome cover - is awesome provides a nice smooth area over the sensor so I am not catching it on clothes, etc. I shaved my upper arm, cleaned it well with alcohol and let it dry, then used the extra stick stuff on my arm ( sorry don't know name) applied the sensor, then the plastic cover disk, then the fabric. Still sticking really, really well, 7 days later. Minimum fraying around the edges, 7 seven showers later. Occasionally I get an itch at the sensor, and when I absentmindedly reach over to scratch as soon as I hit the domed cover, I stop, Very pleased. Would love some solid color covers or dogs.... but I bought the assortment to try this brand AND it had 2 plastic cover, so it was a good deal. I too am in South Texas, and real feel is 100+ outside every day. Worked in the yard last 2 days in afternoon and it still sticking. UPDATE - 10 days later - sticker and cover made it thru entire 10 days of sensor. Did pull up a little toward the back of my arm on day 9 or so -- but not so much that I needed to remove or change it. Was really stuck on still on day 10. That may be with use of Skin Tac -- but between Skin Tac and this cover bandage it made it the whole 10 days with no issues. Very pleased with performance of the skicker/cover and plastic cap guard for sensor.

Love these, but adhesive around the edges needs to be stronger
I chose these overpatches for 2 main reasons - there is a reusable hardshell cover to protect the sensor, and I love the patterns and colors! Also, I like that it covers the entire sensor - the center of the patch is not cut out. After using them for several months, I have found that they do stay on for the entire 15 days of my Dexcom, but some of the patches begin coming unglued from my skin around the edges. This tells me the adhesive isn't really waterproof enough, even though I try to keep them out of the water during showers. But overall, they're keeping my Dexcom more secure if/when I bump it against something, it still stays on. I would buy these again, maybe with a different pattern, just for fun!

Must get this. Lasts forever!!
Must buy!!! I was a petit as in the shower my sensor always fell off. After 4 days it got stickier!! I cannot believe it! The pic is right after a shower 4 days after I put it on. Also, the sensor is not affected what so ever which is a plus!!

Now you see it now you don’t!
While aesthetically pleasing, these cover patches do not stick well. I typically get 3-4 days use out of each patch before needing to replace them. I do shower every morning so I am not sure if that is a contributory factor in why they don’t seem to last the full 10 days that the G7 sensor does. They also seem to fray a bit on the edges rather quickly. I will probably look for a different type/brand for my next purchase. I do like the hard shell that protects the sensor from being bumped off. This gives it an extra measure of protection. Update-I purchased these again with the thought that maybe I received a bad batch of the patches. The second purchase has been worse than the first purchase with each patch lasting only a few hours prior to needing to be replaced. Honestly, the only thing positive that I can report is the protective shell that covers the sensor for protection against accidentally bumping it off. Very disappointed in these purchases. I could not recommend purchasing them.

Okay for the price
They stay on fairly good but they start to fray on the ends all around it. Id say they are decent for the price though.

Works Perfectly!
I really like the over patches. Colors are great and for me the best feature is the hard cover that goes over the monitor. If I have to remove the patch for some reason the cover helps prevent pulling out the sensor. The patches last the lifetime of the sensor and are water proof. I’ve not been to the beach with it yet which will be the real test but I am very pleased so far.

All things considered - one of the best patches.
I first tried Skin Grip, but the cost plus the fact that the designs are SO BORING (especially for a toddler) that I went looking elsewhere. But then I had sensors constantly failing and I realized it was because I switched from Skin Grip. Once I went back, sensors stopped failing, but we were back to boring. So I went searching again, and finally found these. They are wonderful! The cost isn't bad and the designs are so much more fun for a three year old. I'd still say the Skin Grips are slightly better quality. They (and the sensors) almost always last the full ten days often without any issues. These often last the full ten days, but I can always tell when we're a day or two off from the sensor expiring because we start having brief sensor alerts (and that doesn't happen nearly as often- at least for us- with the Skin Grip). But all things considered- the design is a big enough deal with trying to do everything I can to make site changes as positive as I can, that I feel it outweighs slightly lower quality. And the quality still vastly outperforms some of the other brands (like Jinyusega, and Not Just a Patch Air- we had terrible luck consistently with those. Which is sad because Jinyusega has some cute patches. I normally don't like to complain about specific companies - but I feel it's important for other parents to know as experimenting with patches can be super expensive). Hopefully this is helpful!

Great quality
These are very sturdy, they don’t peel off, they last the full 10 days on my G7. I feel more comfortable with this overpatch as it seems to keep the CGM in place especially when your getting dressed and undressed, I no longer catch the CGM. Great product. The overpatch in the picture is after 5 days and it’s still sticking ver well. There is a bit of fraying on the edges but it’s not peeling off at all.

The random patches are the only disappointment.
Works well when you listen to the instructions- not to get wet for at least 6 hours after applying. I got the random pack- minus one star because half of them were American AF and not cute. It was all beachy ones and Stars and Stripes. This is after a week. The edges are lifting a little but for a week of showers it’s pretty good.

better than the standard
Much better than the one that comes with the sensor. More comfortable, and so far, survived 2 showers.

This patch didn’t have a very good adhesive.
I’m disappointed with this patch, I bought two different brands and this was one of them. It peeled off after a few minutes just hanging there. I will try and return them.
