Good for use with Exact Audio Copy
It works well for the rare occasion that I need to access a cd or DVD. I used an app called Exact audio copy which recognised the drive and adjusted its parameters to match this drive. Not used it much but so far seems fine. I am unlikely to be using this for recording CDs I assume the recording function works but haven't tried it.

Perfect cd/dvd drive
Why have pc manufacturers stopped including a cd drive? The solution is an external drive and this is the perfect solution. It’s inexpensive, well made and very good.If you have data and files saved to disk it’s ideal.

Useful for small computers.
A portable CD/DVD drive with a fast USB 3.0 connection and built-in hub. I haven't used this for a while, but it's useful for those occasions when I need to write a DVD on my Eee PC, which doesn't have a drive.

Great Technical Support
This item did not do what I had hoped for - my hope was to transfer from CD to USB stick but it wasn't compatible, and perhaps impossible??? However, it was a silent, fast DVD to laptop player when I tried to do 'the impossible' and the supplier was excellent in providing technical support.
