High quality burner and drive
Just burned a couple DVD-R and RW discs w/ Winx author using this drive. The software recognized it as a Pioneer drive that’s common in laptops so it’s got some good bones. About as thin as the drive from a laptop, only issue is the cord length. Very please with it

Loads fast, long set-up
Just got the player in and is fine. Disks load in just fine, but the set-up is a bit redundant. The manual that comes with the player offers little to no help. The software needed to download isn't available still, you are REQUIRED to create a CyberLink account to even use the device. There is a free option, but every time the DVD/Blu-Ray is paused an ad to upgrade pops up every time, and often times the screen scaling doesn't work properly on secondary screens.

barely works.
does not operate at advertised read speeds. struggled to copy any audio data from a CD.I was able to rip a film from a blu-ray disc using this but very slowly.

Good external Blu Ray option
This is a great Blu Ray drive with, in my option, a big flaw. What's good:It's small and light. Great if you need to throw it in you computer bag and bring it with you. It's both USB-A and USB-C, giving you options for connectivity.Plug and Play. No need for drivers or proprietary software needed to use. What's not so good:Non-removable USB hybrid cable:First, the cable is too short. I cannot use the drive on my desktop since all of the USB ports are on the back, halfway up the computer case, and the cable won't reach to put the drive on top of the computer or on the floor. I also find it to be a pain to have the drive so close when using a laptop. I got around this by using a docking station.Second, the cable is non-removable. If something happens to the cable, the drive is useless. Also, a removable cable would allow your to replace it with a longer one if needed (like in my case). The way you handle the cable when storing it or pulling it out to use it doesn't feel great. Feels like there is a bit of stress on the cable.Since it doesn't have a lot of heft to it, it slides all over the place.I'd still recommend this drive aside from my issues with it.

didn't skip a beat
got this to watch some good old DVD's. I am surprise to find that the cable is tucked in and has both USB-C and USB-A connectors. Plugged this into my laptop and was able to use it right the way. The DVD played smoothly and I have no problems with it. I like the tuck-away feature of the cable since it's one less thing I have to remember to pack.
