Review: In Which Jessica Bids A Fond Farewell.... - The 12th and final Season of Murder She Wrote with Angela Lansbury playing the mystery writer and amateur sleuth, Jessica Fletcher. There are six DVDs in this set, presented well in a smart case, covering all 24 episodes of the twelfth season. Sadly, this is the final farewell from Jessica for the TV series. Extremely entertaining and each episode a jolly good yarn - this season does not disappoint. Recommended for fans of the TV series and anyone who loves a well drawn, well performed mystery with great characters, good humour and a big heart. Well packaged with excellent desertcart delivery. Review: Fabulous entertainment - Fabulous. I don't remember seeing this later series here in the U.K. It's real fun spotting the clues in these whodunits and working out who the murderer is. They must be very honest people in Cabot Cove (or whatever location Jessica Fletcher visits) because when the guilty party is caught by the cops at the end of every episode they always own up straight away and tell them why they did it. Mrs Fletcher also tells them exactly how she solved the mystery. This may not be a subtle show, but it is vastly entertaining.

A fitting farewell?
Although deciding enough was enough after 12 seasons Angela Lansbury, (Jessica herself) was devastated to learn that CBS had moved the show away from it's rating winning Sunday slot to the youth orientated Thursday night, against ratings monsters such as Friends. Not surprisingly ratings dived and the show was quickly cancelled, although to soften the blow CBS signed up for some follow up tv movies, four of which followed. South by Southwest, A Story to Die For, The Last Freeman and The Celtic Riddle followed, although none really served as a farewell to the much loved show. That's not to say season 12 did not include some great episodes, season's high include: Nan's Ghost part 1 and 2 (in the top ten all time episodes) Southern Double Cross Big Easy Murder Home Care & The Secret of Gila Junction. Buy this to rediscover just how good this show could be.

Ein Klassiker
Diese Serie ist für mich ein Klassiker der 90er Jahre. Die Staffeln werden nicht mehr auf Deutsch veröffentlicht, daher kaufte sie auf Englisch - das Englisch ist gut verständlich. Einziger Minuspunkt: keine specials.

What can I say about Ms. Lansbury.
I was a big fan of "Murder, She Wrote" for many years and I have almost all the series DVDs. There isn't much more that can be said about this series and its star. She's wonderful, talented, and a joy to watch. What a classy lady, and believe me, you don't see that kind of class much anymore. The episodes in this, her final season, are some of the best and I enjoy watching them over again. I now watch a lot of more "realistic" mystery/murder shows now. I love Bones, NCIS, and Criminal minds where they show a lot of gore and bloody gooey bodies, but I find that once in a while I like to return to, dare I say it,a kinder, gentler murder stories. I can't speak for every one, but it's kind of like when you watch all those movies with so many four letter nasty words and huge explosions and then you watch an "Dial M For Murder", somehow it's soothing and you just feel good about yourself again. That's what Murder, She Wrote does for me. It's murder yes, but it's not as intense.May I say right here that I don't want to give the wrong impression, I am anti-murder, It's just that I love a mystery. I will continue to go back again and again to see Jessica Fletcher capture these dastardly criminals and enjoy watching a real actress at work and not just another chick in tight pant showing her cleavage and calling it acting.

Great show, too bad they don't make them like this anymore!
well, as usual murder she wrote is a great show and has loads of episodes per season, unlike the crap that is on today, also once u have watched to entire series you'll start noticing characters that were other characters in other episodes and they are so talented that it takes a while to realize that was the same person from before. Talent is when u can play many characters and not be recognized right away, unlike today where all u have to be is 'pretty' with no talent and it takes you to the top, HA! i have the entire series and managed to buy each season for around 15-17$ on sale so if you're looking, try and wait cuz it'll eventually go on sale, took me over 2 years to get everything, but it was worth the wait....and on amazon's part, super fast shipping and everything was brand spanking new , shrink wrapped and works perfectly! thanks again for the speedy service!

Been waiting for these
I have collected all the seasons now and loved the last one. I had the first 6 for many years, and did not know how many there were until I checked on Amazon and am so thankful that I have been able to get them all.

A fun program to spend an evening with
Too bad the show ended. But at least it lasted for 12. Love it! Actors arent our role models but Angela lansbury is a fantastic actress. We appreciate her character and style. The era of grace and respect for the audience seems to have died with shows such as this. Language is basically very clean. Not vulgar in topic or delivery. We appreciate every episode not being filled with social engineering and indoctrination (or cause de jour) as most have done or started to do. The plots arent overly morbid or violence depicted in great detail. Lots of humor and light hearted moments. Love the diversity of scenery and wardrobe. Lots of cameo appearances which are fun to look for. I like that the main cast was consistent for most of the seasons. Really appreciate the effort that went into this series. It shows!
