Coffee red-handed.
- Review for 8-Pack Vertuo Reusable Pods, Refillable Vertuo Coffee Pods with 150ml & 230ml Capsules, Includes Silicone Lids & 10 Aluminum Seals || Price: ££21.99 (at time of ordering) -I like these, but I have to admit there is a bit of a learning curve involved. There are no instructions additional to what's on the listing, so it was trial and error as to how much coffee to put in and how tightly to pack it. The first one I made tasted a bit weak and there were a few escaped granules in my drink, so the next one I packed tightly and filled to the brim. Well the water couldn't get through it I guess, because the machine only spurted out about 5ml!I think I've got it down now; somewhere in the middle. I'd still like it a bit stronger, but perhaps that's just the coffee I'm using. It's so nice having actual real freshly ground coffee in my nespresso machine, it's so much tastier and so much cheaper. The metal tops are more forgiving, but I really like that the silicone lid is reusable and means there is no waste. I save the grinds for my garden too. Now that I've got the knack Im having no troubles with the silicone top and tend to use it most of the time. I just wish it came with four so I could pre-make my capsules for the day as opposed to as I need them. You get two black 250ml pods, and two brown 150ml. I prefer less liquid (and more coffee!), so I tend to only use the brown ones. Ideally you'd be able to choose the mix so you could get all the one size if that's what you drink. I'd also like to see the option to buy more lids!TLDR: Fun product that works well after a bit of practise, saves money and tastes a whole heap better than regular pre-made pods. Recommended.

A good yet initially complicated set of pods to use
These reusable pods are initially difficult to work out how to use, as there are no clear instructions as to dosage and how to properly use the capsules, except to fill and seal them with the foil sticker lids. The pack includes one silicone cover, as well as ten foil lids, a tamper and a scoop as well as 4 reusable pods, two for 150ml and two for 230ml.What is not provided is a capsule holder to ensure that it remains upright and stable which would have been nice.A little research provided the amount of coffee grounds to include in the pods as well as coarseness of the grind, then the experimenting started. The silicone lid worked ok however I found a more grounds were needed and to be packed and tampered down else the coffee was too watery, but if you made the grinds too fine the pod would get bunged up and most of the water ended up in the capsule bin. When using the foil lids the results were a lot better and consistent at various grinds but the best was just a bit coarser than an espresso grind.Overall complicated and fiddly but once you have your grind and method, the capsules come into their own.
