Get rid of algae in bird bath - copper disc
PERRRRRFECT! I bought my first bird 🐦 🦜 bath that I ALWAYS wanted (I'll review that in a moment) - I didn't know I needed something to keep the algae away! I had no idea that this would even happen, it's not something I thought of before even after changing the water every 2 days! So I "Googled" how to get rid of algae in bird baths and this is what almost everyone said - a copper disc so I got one, and lemme tell ya IT WORKS GREAT! I was kinda surprised it worked actually. But I'm glad the remedy wasn't an expensive one. There were some other suggestions to rid algae - I stuck with the copper disc 😊

Effectiveness limited during warm summer months with lots of daylight.
I live in San Diego County. In the winter, this worked great and kept the water algae free in my fountain in the backyard for months. Now that summer has arrived, the water is warmer, and there is more sunlight its effectiveness is reduced to a couple of weeks. After about two weeks, I have to clean out the fountain to remove algae.

Don’t waste your money.
Advertised to prevent algae growth in bird bath. Not! Well, to be honest it does work..if you count only preventing algae 1/2” around the copper disk not the entire bird bath. Waste of money unless you buy maybe 10-12 of them to cover the whole bath.

I Was Skeptical, But It Really Works For Us!
We have a cast concrete birdbath that I would have to power wash and scrub with a brush weekly to remove the green algae. Since adding this Erva Copper Bird Bath Purification Disk we still get a little algae (far less than before), but it mostly rinses off with a spay head on the garden hose now. Copper pipes are used for potable water, so I assume that the disk is safe for the birds, and certainly safer than chemical algae controls. The crows like to dip their food in the water so we still get some light gray scum, but even that is less now. We have to change the water regularly to keep it clean and for mosquito control, but the weekly deep cleaning is much easier now.

Maybe slows the algae but doesn’t stop it
I have a nice concrete pedestal bird bath with an embedded pebble texture that is a real mess and impossible to keep clean in the summer. I saw this copper plate and the reviews all sounded good so I gave it a try. I first gave the bird bath a good scrub and bleached it to make sure there was no live algae left. Put the disk in and filled it with clean water. Over the first week I was amazed to see that the interior of the bird bath got cleaner looking each day. I really expected to see some algae but there has been zero algae growth and it’s in direct sunlight almost all day. This works great! Update: after a few weeks I’m reducing my rating to 3 stars. The reason is that the bird bath is still growing algae. Maybe not as fast as it did before I placed the disk. Have to say I’m disappointed since I even moved the bird bath into the shade whereas it was in full sun before. My recommendation is to just throw a handful of pennies in the bird bath. In fact that is what I did for another one I have.

It really works
I have to use a heated bird bath otherwise it will freeze solid in the winter. Because the water is warm all the time algae growth occurs in two to three days. I've now had this disc in the bath for seventeen days now and there is not a sign of any algae. This thing really works and it's made in the USA

Working so far.
Quick delivery, arrived next day. Put in bird water feature to keep the water clean, so far, so good. No algea and the water has remained clear and sparkling. Would recommend.
