Well composed riddles and story in this calendar. Although it is a bit on expensive side, it is a great gift.

The product is not in English, all the books and instructions inside are in German. Since this is an advent calendar, I didn’t plan to open it before December (opened it now as I was excited to see what's inside) so I cannot even return it now. The outer box looked correct, so I had no reason to expect an issue. However, it turns out that the instructions and all internal packaging are in German despite the exterior being in English. This is not acceptable.

This game blew us away and is fantastic fun for one person or the whole family. There are 24 compartments sealed inside the box that are not numbered and you use the game book, contents of each day's compartment, and decoder to figure out which compartment is next to play and number them as you go along.The design inside the four walls and floor of each daily compartment is incredibly detailed and we used a small flashlight to look for all of the clues displayed and passed the box around for to tell others what we discovered. Inside each compartment there are cards and more clue pieces that frequently blew us away with their cleverness.The game book has a story for each day that guides solving each day's puzzle. A help book is included for each day that folds up in sections to reveal step by step clues to help solve the puzzle each day for when you're stuck. Both books are perforated for you to tear out each day's game puzzle and help sheet.We played this game with two adults and two kids age 10 and 12 and had a blast every single day. Everyone contributed ideas that were helpful, including the 10 year old who tended to think "outside the box".I taped the sides together so the kids and adults wouldn't be tempted to peek inside ahead of time. I kept the game book and help book to myself until it was time to play each day so we wouldn't be tempted to read ahead and see the solutions ahead of time. Then each day when it was time to play together, I tore out the day's game book sheet and had one player read it to the rest. I tore out the day's help sheet for me to give to the team if needed, and it often was even for the adults. Using the step by step folding help sheet then became part of the game with more clues and fun.It can be played by one person for sure, but if played with others it will bring all players together for cooperative fun. We couldn't wait to play it the next day. The price is just right for 24 days of fun.It's designed in the UK and the quality and magnificence shines through. We can't wait to play another one next Christmas.Don't hesitate - buy it and you will be delighted.
