With initials that stand for rugged outdoor chino, the Columbia ROC II pant is just that. Built from durable, 100 percent cotton granite cloth, these handsome trousers are buttery soft but tough enough to handle any outdoor activity from raking leaves to off-trail hiking.

These used to be my favorite. I liked the styling
These used to be my favorite. I liked the styling, the fit, and the zippered side pocket. I sail, and I had my phone slide out of a pair of pants and into the lake. The zippered pocket is the perfect place for my flip phone.BUT...I ordered a few pairs of these at the same time, and they are no longer anywhere near as nice as what they used to be. The fit is a little small, and my best description is that the fit is a little weird. And, the zipper is much shorter than on the old pants! It doesn't go down as far as other pants. Did they decide to save money by using shorter zippers. Strange. Also, the zipper for the zippered side pocket is shorter, making it difficult to reach in the pocket and grab my cell phone.Ultimately, these are a poor imitation of the original Roc pants. I will not buy them again.

Very Disappointed in Columbia for changing a classic well loved product.
I have never written a review before, but this is a great disappointment from a company that is supported to listen to its customers. The Original Roc Pant was one of the best trekking, travel work pants and very popular. It was very roomy and tough wearing. Columbia brought it back as Roc II, but no comparison. The new style is slim with high crotch and low waist like a modern dress pant. the cloth is much flimsier and thinner wearing. Its not a comfortable sturdy outdoor trekking, travel or work pant like the original. Too Bad.I used to be a big Columbia fan.

To skinny and pocket is too small
Columbia changed the fit with the ROC II. I have muscular legs and slim cut pants do not suit me. The old style provided plenty of room, but the new ones are too tight. I am uncomfortable in them and they leave little to the imagination. Also, the side pocket is far too small for any modern phone. I was glad to see that Columbia modified the design of that pocket, but it should have been larger. In the end, these pants are worse than the ones they replaced.

comfortable, handy, but only for light duty.
I've bought 4 pairs of these pants. They fit well and have a lot of functionality, but quality seems to be lacking. The cloth these are made of seems to be a bit less rugged than you would expect for pants made for outdoor use.Why would I keep buying them? because they are comfortable, have several pockets and are light. And also because they keep blowing out after strenuous use.For whatever reason the black version of these same pants is far more rugged.

Way too tight. Inconsistant sizing!
I have two other pair of the exact same RocII pant in different colors from previous purchases and these are going back. Way too small and a different cut. Skinnier legs, less butt room, tighter waste. And no, I have not gained weight!

Great pants, but they run a little small.
I do like these pants, but I purchased them at the same time as a different style of Columbia pants and the two vary widely in size. These are a little small while the other style (the exact same size) is a little large. Overall, I've always like Columbia pants and will continue to buy and wear them. They are comfortable, look good on me (as far as I'm concerned) and are long lasting. I'm not sure I could ask for more in a pair of casual pants.

Secured extra pockets, regular fit, look great.
These are a very good travel, hiking, and every day pair of cotton slacks. What's great about them is that they are so versatile. It's all about the pockets. Having the deep, zippered front pocket is great for commuting, you can put a wallet or big cell phone in there. The side pocket fits my largish phone which is 3" wide by 6", with a small part of it sticks out the top. But for walking around or hiking, it is a comfortable place to keep your celly. The only negative they did use velcro on the back pockets (not a big fan). The material is a thick, soft cotton. It will shrink if washed and dried hot, but it also stretches right back out quickly.I found the fit to be regular, they are not "skinny" unless you are very muscular or heavy. I'm of average build 6" 200 lb, and these fit as expected, in fact I think they could be a bit more tapered. They are generously cut for boots. The best thing about these is the two additional pockets. 4 pocket pants don't cut it in the summer when you don't need a jacket. Where are you supposed to put your cell phone, wallet, keys, key cards, and various fobs?

Wrong picture for sage
I ordered these pants in a "sage" color. The picture was a very light brown. The pants I got were green. I suppose sage is green but the picture is deceiving. Pants are good though. Good quality and tested before for 2 years and still good.

Low riders
I used to love these pants and wore them all the time. But the latest versions are cut an inch lower in the waist and ride too low for me. I won't be buying any more of them.

Sturdy
I have had the previous version of these pants for 10 years. Hopefully, these will get the same amount of miles.
