The review you’re looking for.
No offense to the other reviews, but they are LACKING. Let me try to answer the questions I didn’t get from others.1. The blade is beautifully done. Real Hamon, straight blade, and reasonably sharp. Some areas of the blade need a fine sharpening, and it needs a fine polish but overall the bones are there. Seems to be a well made blade. The balance is about 5” from the Habaki. The Habaki itself is tight but also could use some cleaning up.The reason you’re gonna buy this sword is the blade. The Shirasaya configuration isn’t meant to be used for cutting. This is a great blade as a base for finishing. I haven’t cut with it so I can’t speak to the durability. The handle is nice enough. Consistent, smooth, looks pretty good. The Saya is loose. It’ll just fall off. So some shims are in order. But again, that’s not why you buy this.So if you want a (seemingly) solid blade to polish and mount, this is it. Really impressed.

Understand what you’re paying for
This sword is very nice, far superior to a display piece, but don’t expect a high end katana at this price point. It will slice paper, and blows through water jugs and bamboo may rolls like they’re not even there, but fit and finish is…. Less than desirable.

INCREDIBLE CRAFTSMANSHIP
My son wanted this so badly. He helped his father work for a three days in order to earn it. This sword is his absolute favorite sword of all his swords (he has collected a lot of swords). Thank you for the beautiful craftmanship. The wooden sheath is absolutely amazing. We hope to order from this craftsman again

A real standout blade!
I've been buying a lot of swords recently in an attempt to bolster my collection. I got this blade because I liked the style but didn't expect much for the price. I was really surprised! Buying swords like this online can be a crap shoot, but these fittings are perfect, the saya is great and the clay temper is one of the most perfect examples of a perfect temper I've seen. Honestly, I would have expected this quality for a sword three times as expensive maybe. Very impressed!

Very nice blade in my opinion. Makes a nice self defense walking stick. :)
Particularly liked the precision way the blade fit in the sheath. Makes a perfect self defense walking stick with a rubber stopper I put on one end, a foam tube for a handle and a braided leather strap at the top.

Pretty happy with it!
I bought this sword because it reminded me of the cane blade from zatoichi. First impressions are that it has a *very* tight sheathe, to the point where it takes a little effort to actually draw the sword, but it just needs some breaking in. Not much of an issue.First thing I noticed when holding the blade is that this thing feels *light*. It is advertised to be 3 pounds which is a normal weight for a katana, but the point of balance sits just at 5 inches, maybe even a hair less which makes it feel pretty maneuverable. It did concern me a bit at first though, as the sword felt less robust. Upon putting some pressure near the tip of the sword, it has a little more flex than Im used to with katanas. In fact I feel like it has the same flex and weight as a jian...Which is **weird** for a katana but I oddly REALLY like that! It feels different but not in a bad way!Seeing as it is 1095 steel, making it a bit harder, as long as its properly treated the lighter weight and flex of it shouldn't pose any problems cutting tatami, brush and that sort, which reading other reviews seem to be the case. I don't plan to do too much cutting with it anyways so it suits my purposes just fine. The sword seems to be full tang as advertised as well. To sum it up, sword itself is pretty good, the sheathe is fine. Worth a buy if this aesthetic of katana is your thing.

Beautiful Blade
I am not a professional when it comes to the knowledge of a authentic blade but out of all the swords i have purchased so far this is an A+ sword, everything is beautiful, the cover and handle match perfectly and the Damascus / blade shape is really well made, its sharp but needs honing, hard to believe I almost bought a blade from Japan for seven hundred dollars and it was the same quality! You will not be disappointed with this purchase.
