I do a lot of lure fishing..often hopping a soft plastic across gravel bottoms and encountering snags. Pin sharp hooks make a big difference and the file helps make sure I’m not fishing with a blunted hook.. I’d say it’s still hard to get a good hook back to ‘out of the packet sharp’ .. I usually start the day with a new hook anyway but it’s a help mid session.

I'm not sure that it's unisex, but it definitely sharpens hooks well. I purchased this mainly to sharpen hooks whilst match fishing, as pole fishing close to reeds and hooking fish after fish, soon leaves hooks blunt and needing changing. So this is to speed things up, and rather than messing about changing hook link. I decided to sharpen the hooks instead. Definitely a great purchase. Does exactly the same as the more expensive brands. Why pay more when this does exactly the same. Will pay for itself in a couple of matches as will save the cost of changing hooks. Definitely recommend and a great addition to the tackle box.
