I found use for this unique knife
After sharpening (a few times) I was able to find use for this rather unique knife as a letter opener. It fits in between openings in closed letters perfectly and slices open paper with ease. If you have the ability to sharpen this than why not. Makes for a fun weekend sharpening project.

Quality
Great for letter opening and fishing. A little long for a pocket, unless you have cargo pants.

An interesting novelty, fraught with possibilities...
For the price, well worth it. The blade seems a bit delicate for any serious work---other than use as a weapon. The relatively sharp tanto blade does have some weight and thickness on its back edge. And, in the closed position, the the weighted end containing the knife hilt makes it a decent small bludgeon, capable of damaging an assailant's fingers and hands. Unfortunately the two rod sections DO NOT screw together to make this a truly lethal "pocket assegai" or throwing dart. It really seemed to me that it would be well suited for that purpose. Offering additional extension rods (as extras) could, with 2 or 3 of them, make it a very credible, well balanced, portable javelin/spear. Or, in a closed position, an even more effective club. Another worthwhile extra would be attachable spike or ferrule for the opposite end in order to make it a hiking pole. Maybe a hi-tech ataltl! I better stop. I'm breaking out in a cold sweat.A serious implement with practical survival and defensive uses. And an interesting toy for the weapon psycho who thinks he has everything. The above capabilities combined with stronger, sharper blade would give it 5 stars. And even just making the 2 sections joinable would give it 4.

My new letter opener
Very nice, well built, and stays locked when closed, but very easy to open when needed.

Very good quality, well made, and nice design.
In truth, this thing is of limited (if any) practical value, and no matter what you are trying to accomplish, there's probably a better tool for that.Still, I have to give this five stars for several reasons:1) It feels very well made. Someone put some thought into this.2) The presentation case it comes in is outstanding - you'd think it was a $1000 rollerball.3) The fit and finish are excellent.4) The blade is well designed - very thick in the back. In terms of use, it appears designed for point-and-thrust vs. cutting. Because the blade is so thick in the back, it won't flex much.5) When sheathed, it's a very sturdy single piece. No play at all.6) Overall, it's just an interesting piece.7) The price is right. For less than ten dollars, it's a deal.A few cons...1) It's a nice length - but too long to carry in any reasonable way or for any reasonable purpose.2) The blade is so thick in the back that it's not going to cut very well, if you had that in mind.3) It would be difficult to sharpen, given the blade geometry.4) Not a con, really, but it takes 13 turns to unscrew and open. That makes it strong, but hard to open.
