I recently bought the STANLEY 16-299 12 Piece Pin Punches and Cold Chisel Set, and overall, I’m really happy with it. This set comes with a good range of punches and chisels that are well-suited for general workshop, garage, and DIY tasks.

Pros- 1.Good handle design. The "scoop" on the handle is great for the thump when trimming, as far as I know Stanley is the only company with this design. 2. Sharpness stays longer with treated metal 3. It comes already sharpened CONS 1. The back of the chisel isn't completely flat but can be fixed manually 2. The ready made sharpened edge is not 90 degree also needs adjustment Overall after sharpening it square and flattening the back it's awesome!

Backdrop: I do a lot of wooden & drilling work - where not just to size the wood, but also to trim the edges - I need a good chisel. I do have an old chisel - which wasn't being able to do justice to this lately. So, thought of getting a fresh one. Now, I knew that procuring it from local market will be cheaper (well - who needs a brand name for a chisel?). But after running through a few hardware stores - I could find that they sell the chisel & the chisel handle separately & more or less a standard 3/4 was costing me around Rs. 70 (with the plastic handle - which needs to be warmed & then you need to insert the chisel end to make it fit/attach). So, on a rough estimate - getting 3 chisels of varying width would cost me around Rs. 250, whereas this Stanley set was at Rs. 449 (i.e. roughly double the price). But I was not happy with the look & quality of the local store chisels & thought of giving this one a try - as I found it for a few bucks less on lightening deal. I started using the chisel today & here is what I found: * Good strong build * Ready to use off the packet * Cuts through woods/plastics - as if running a warm knife through butter (well, I may be exaggerating a bit, but after using my old chisel for long time, today's experience was really smooth) Summary: - If you are looking for chisel, look no further - get this! - I am taking away a star only for it's high price (I would have preferred a price tag of around Rs. 350/- max) - Otherwise - this is definitely a tool which will not let you down

This is an economical chisel set for an occasional DIY woodworking enthusiast like me. Stanley is still a reasonably good brand. So, I consider it as a safe choice. Only time can tell if it proves to be a durable product or not.

was expecting better quality from the brand... but seem like toys 😂 .. local hardware shop chisel are better

This set of tools qualifies as "good" and it is priced nicely for this quality level. The temper seems well done in all pieces. The plastic case leaves a bit to be desired, but is serviceable. Only problem was the punches had moved around in the case during shipping and the stacked up in the middle, making it impossible to open the case without cutting the strap. With much difficulty I managed to slide the punches back into their positions. This permitted the pin that securely holds the strap closed (on the non-hinge side) to be slid out so the the strap would open. The case now works, the strap stays shut, the tools stay in position. I don't use the pin fully. Note that pin punches are notorious for snapping the tip off, due to the tempering. I have not had that happen with this set, but do not use them to pry or to put torque on a shaft or any other similar silliness. They will either bend to uselessness or the tip will break. So, neither the most expensive punches you can buy, nor the cheapest. Just good tools.
