65 YR OLD GRANDMOTHER CAN DIY THIS!
I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS BUT!! Here we go ..I am a 65 yr old grandmother living alone in my home the other day my heat pump air unit stopped working I thought Ohhh Lord! But I went outside took the side panels off wrote down all the infomation, Model #'s HP, Etc etc, because it wasn't blowing air thru my inside vents I was thinking fan motor has died...came back in Google is my Friend by the way...lol did more research read it could be the capacitor and to check by giving the fan itself a little twirl if it started running it was NOT the fan motor but the capacitor about 8 bucks...motor would've been around 200 bucks...so got all that info off the old one ordered it and now I'm sitting here thinking burrrrrrrrrrrrr its a little chilly in here! lol Soooooooo heres to me for not being naive and just calling a hvac company that would've probably charged at the very least $500.00 and more than likely tried to rip me off for a new unit! when all I needed was a simple 3 wire little approximate 8 buck can looking thing that I replaced by myself!! GO ME!! lol This capacitor worked extremely well and a great price also! Stay warm and cool out there folks and stay well!

amazon your awesome
of coarse my ac went out sat night 9/5/20 during the hottest week of the year. 112F. sun am i went to home depot , calif regulations they dont carry capacitors....no ones available to come out its holiday 3 day weekend. electician in the electric section reminded me best chance is to order on amazon prime immediately so i have good chance to get the capacitor by monday 2 day shipping.... so glad i did so and am a prime member, its monday now 330pm 95f and house is cool 78f. without amazon prime dedicated employees , drivers i still have to wait till tomorrow tuesday anotehr hot 90f in house take time off work to go to local electrical outfitter for the part. and hopefully they carry it....btw this time i bought 2 1 spare back up. easy to connct. make sure you pull the fuse pwr disconnect. red wire on common marked c on cap, blk wire to fan marked on cap, brown wire on herm marked on cap. this cap is a dual capacitor runs both the fan motor and the compressor. after connecting the 3 wires to the cap reconnect pwer and adj the thermostat.... the part works great easy to install, again double make sure your pwr is off......and again thank you amazon for being their.....

Does a great job here in Florida. I keep a spare on hand.
This capacitor does a great job keeping my AC unit running smoothly here in Florida. This is the third one I have purchased. No, that is not a reflection of the quality. It's all related to lightning and electrical storms. Three years ago, my AC compressor (less than one year old) got hit by lightning and I ordered this (and a spare) to get it back up and running as soon as it arrived. It was a perfect fit for the OEM part and worked flawlessly for the past three years. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago and zap! Hit by lightning again! (Lots of storms here in coastal Florida.) Luckily I had my spare unit and I was able to repair the unit within 15 minutes of the storm clearing up. AC unit is back up and running smoothly and here I am ordering my on-hand spare. Replacing this myself costs me just the price of the unit and 15 minutes of my time. Getting an AC technician out to the house would have taken me at least a day or two here in Florida, not to mention the emergency labor would have been astronomical plus an outrageous marked-up part price. This is one of the best buys a handy homeowner can make to save time and money to keep there AC Unit up and running. Thanks!

Good quality, drop in replacement for Amana rcb36c2a 3 tonne air conditioner
While most capacitors here are +-6%, I'm glad that Maxrun make capacitors with tighter tolerances at 5%. Probably not a huge deal but when they're all the same price, why not get the better one? Replacement was almost plug and play. It's skinnier than the original so I just found a scrap piece of wood to make the original strap mount the capacitor snug on the AC unit. Just learned about soft start so I'll be installing the ICM control soft start to extend the life of my AC. Don't want to be stuck with no AC in the middle of summer again.

I was wrong
UPDATE! I WAS WRONG! It works fine. I installed a "hard start" on the unit and it works. The company is awesome. They immediately offered me a refund, but I wanted to make certain. I upgraded my post to 4 stars. First post follows below. Today is July 13th. I got it June 15th, it was easy to install and everything was working well. Now not so much. I think it was faulty as it really doesn't take a brain surgeon to install one. It is for the upstairs 2 ton unit. We don't go upstairs a lot because we are old and crotchity. I'm going to borrow a ohm electrician thingy and see if it indeed has failed. If it has not failed I'll update this post. but I'm 90% sure it died a miserable death in less than a month. If I went up stairs often I'd be bitching louder.

So far so good
It'll get your AC up and running. Only time will tell of the quality. My last capacitor lasted for over 20 years. Sooooo this one is a couple decades out of a full review๐คทโโ๏ธ Been on for over a month with out a problem (update) it lasted one year. Blew out in the heat wave here, swelled up pretty bad. Replaced with a Titan. THIS will you get you by for a while in a pinch and comes tour front door. It's still worth the 12$

Easy
My Father has owned a AC company 25 years, I always worked with him growing up. He recently suffered from a stroke and has not been able to work, I have a hard time asking anyone for help especially being around the company growing up. So long story short. My Compressor was not coming on when I turned my unit on, only the fan would come on. Usually that would be a fuse or a breaker issue. I checked all of that, good. So I ordered this part, it came in the next day. Super amazing price also, installed it in 10 mins. AC is cooling again. btw I am a girl, also the unit I installed this on is a 20 year old Trane. I have two units home is 3,350 sqft. Hopefully this helps!
