I have sold all my guitar gear to get the and I don't regret it one bit. The amp is tiny but mighty. The tone cloud has nearly every artist you can think of and the effects of which there are thousands will have what you need to recreate that signature sound. I created my own backing track for a full concert and I have saved every sound I need into the 8 slots. I purchased the control x pedal to go with it. The master volume on the amp controls the master volume of the amp inside the software. The guitar volume controls how loud the guitar is overall And the music controls the music volume. Having stereo out makes it easy to go into my pa system which is 1800 watts. Now I have everything in a tiny beautiful box that I can control from the app on my phone. It truly feels like I have arrived at a time in my life where now I can go out and gig and no longer bogged down by wires and power supplies. Just one power supply. A fully Charged control x pedal and one guitar lead is all I have. Downsizing but upsizing in effects. My guitar playing has improved dramatically having the sound be closer to the actual artist. I'm having the best time with it and I've only had it for a few days. I'm going to get the battery next month for it. If you get this you won't be disappointed. Plugging the headphones into it disabled the speakers but the sound through your headphones is phenomenal. The built in tuner is brilliant as it shows you when you're in tune but it also shows you the drift to sharp or flat. Sometimes the string will be in tune but ever so slightly sharp or flat once the volume of the string dies down. Much better than any tuner I've had before. The amp controls the app dials of the virtual controls but not the other way round so bare that in mind. If you move a control when you are playing it will alter the whole sound. So you need to set the sound as you want it to be and store it. Then when you select the patch you want its all set. If you have a sound set that has a lower volume stored it will play at the lower volume. This is excellent as sometimes you don't want to adjust the volume on the fly you can do that with your guitar volume but you might want to be arriving at a lower volume. With this amp you can do that. Truly outstanding bit of kit. Don't get the 40 version as it doesn't have the output to pa and sound quality not as good at 50. Highest recommendation I can give and even though it's classed as a practice amp I'm using it with a pa and using it live. It's perfectly capable once you have stored all your sounds in the amp. I would not use the Bluetooth live but only for downloading and modifying your sound before hand. The great part also to mention is that once your sound is stored you don't need to open the app to modify the effects as the amp dials affect the delay and reverb gain etc on the actual amp. If you are a serious guitar player like me get it. 5 million stars

After seeing all the endless hype of Positive Grid stuff (and having owned the Spark Mini before), I decided to finally take the plunge and order a Spark 2 that was on sale.... Pros: 1 - Sounds : sounds great for a tabletop amplifier. This wont replace your tube amplifier (or even high end modeller) but it will give you the essential tones needed to practice, teach and probably gig with if used correctly via the Line Out. It definitely does higher gain sounds better than it does cleaner/crunchier tones as I find myself loving the YJM100 Plexi and Soldano amps for my core distortion tones. It can also get loud! 2 - Feature Set : 2 banks of patches (8 in total), built in effects, looper and line-out make this a complete package for practicing and even recording. Having a dedicated knob for your guitar volume and a separate one for audio-playback is really important as I am glad the Spark 2 has it laid out the way it does. 3 - Build Quality : simply excellent. Leagues above anything else in the same price range as it looks great with the faux amp covering and grill. It all feels premium out of the box with the cool packaging and included strap for it - nice! 4 - App: while I am not a fan of app-reliant amplifiers, the Spark app is one of the most slick experiences I have had compared to other companies like Boss, Yamaha and NUX. Once you load in your sounds, you can turn the app off and use it standalone while saving things from the amp itself. 5 - Bluetooth : really impressed that the Spark 2 essentially has 2 bluetooth channels ; one for app control and one for audio. This means I can stream music from my laptop and edit the amplifier using my phone - honestly, bloody brilliant as a guitar teacher! Playback sounds great as It can be your house multi-medi boombox quite easily. Cons: 1 - Effects : some of the built in effects are just bad (the phaser is diabolical), as I largely have issue with the stompbox and modulation effects with not much choice on offer compared to other products out there (NUX Mighty Space has way more in this department). I generally find myself using the core amp sounds with delays/reverbs as those actually sound quite good when dialed in. 2 - Additional Bits Cost £££ : if you just want the amplifier, no problem. If you want the internal battery, the footswitch and the carry bag then prepare to pay way more on top for the whole setup. Add up all that cash and you can grab a smaller tube combo for home or a larger digital/solid state amplifier with way more options included. 3 - App Reliance : simply put you need the phone app to load in different effects, operate the looper/rhythm parts properly and get full functionality from the amp. Also sucks that there is no dedicated PC application as I like to do most things from a laptop. If you are a purist and hate smart phones, look elswhere! 4 - Sensitive To Placement : a tabletop amp like the Spark 2 can sound really different when you have it on the floor or well... a tabletop! I generally found it a bit too muddy on the floor with some weird overtones in the high end as I think it sounds best on top of a guitar cabinet, amp stand or a small stool. Sounds oddly specific but experiment on the placement of the amp in your room as you will get wildly different results. Overall, it is a quality product as I think the hype is well deserved with the Spark 2. It is a solid option for practicing, teaching and recording that should get you playing in no time!

I bought this to use with a Ukulele Bass as the Positive Grid Mini I already had wasn't quite enough. I didn't need all the bells and whistles that this amp has (and I've never used them). All I need is something that gives the U-Bass similar 'oomph' to an upright double-bass -- and I need it in places where I can't plug into the mains. The bass response on the Mini is superb, so I had high hopes for this amp -- and it didn't disappoint. This is a modelling amp and most of the configuration is done through the Spark app. I applied the profile I'd already set up for the Mini and needed very little adjustment. The app gives a ton of control options. This means it might take a while before you get it sounding the way you want it to sound, but the necessary perseverance is well worth the effort. With the Spark Battery installed, it's perhaps a little heavier than I'd hoped, but still very portable (I carry mine in the official Spark Bag). Perhaps one day I'll use the looper or the onboard effects -- but I don't need them right now. This amp does everything I need it for; and does it well.

Sound quality is fine for a practice amp, it’s not up there with valve amps but I can now save that for gigs and not deafen the neighbours. The thing that blows me away is all of the functionality accessed via the internet, want to play a new song or copy your latest muse; just type in what you want and the amp will come up with suggested tones that mimic sound. It gives you many variation which you can use the amps controls to tweak till your happy, then save it either to the amp (8 patches) or to the cloud (limitless patches) Wow!!! Then there’s the battery, charge it and play for hours cable free. Turn down the volume and, unlike the afore mentioned valve amps, maintain your tone just at a much lower volume so you can practice when everyone else has gone to bed. This thing is an amazing tool and I’m just beginning to scratch the surface of what it can do. The best thing is that it makes you want to practice and it makes it easy to do so anywhere at any time. I just wish I’d bought one sooner.

Awesome amp. I had a look at reviews and videos of this for a while before buying it, and it exceeds my expectations. I have gotten back into playing guitar after 12 years, and I just wish this was around back when I was a teenager. I can’t stop playing around with the different tones and the looper feature. It’s sounds great overall. 10/10

Normally, purchasing a small practice amplifier is an exercise in profound disappointment. You plug in your beloved guitar, strike a heavy chord, and are instantly greeted by a noise that resembles a swarm of agitated bees violently attacking a sheet of corrugated iron. ​I am, without apology, an absolute snob when it comes to audio. My home studio is stuffed with walls of guitars, a drum kit, bass guitars, and a Neural DSP Quad Cortex that I guard with the sort of unblinking reverence normally reserved for ancient religious artifacts. I am accustomed to colossal, earth-shattering tone. So, when I decided I needed a portable amp for the living room so I would not have to spend every evening chained to my studio desk, my expectations were practically scraping the floor. I very nearly purchased a small Orange micro stack for £200. I am incredibly grateful that I did not. ​This Pearl-coloured Spark 2 is a staggering piece of equipment. Out of the box, it feels remarkably well engineered. It possesses a deeply satisfying physical weight, feeling robust enough to survive a minor earthquake, yet light enough that you can hoist it onto a bookshelf without putting your spine out of alignment. ​But the true shock arrives the moment you actually play a note. The noise this diminutive little box produces is nothing short of baffling. It can whisper quietly for a midnight session, or it can be turned up to a volume so startlingly loud it could easily trigger a noise complaint from a neighbour three doors down. It manages all of this while projecting 33 different amplifiers and 43 effects with terrifying, crystal-clear accuracy. ​Then we arrive at the technology. Usually, mixing artificial intelligence with music gear is about as successful as asking a golden retriever to file your tax return. It ends in absolute confusion and a massive mess. Yet, Positive Grid has somehow achieved the impossible. You can literally tell the app to generate a buttery blues tone with a hint of room reverb, or type in a specific song like Linkin Park's "In The End", and the machine simply obliges. It instantly hands you a perfectly sculpted sonic preset. It entirely removes the tedious menu-diving that normally drains a musician's will to live. ​If that were not enough technical witchcraft for one small box, it also boasts a built-in looper, a metronome, and custom drum tracks. You can even search for a song, and the app will display the chords on your screen whilst simultaneously matching your guitar tone to the original recording. It is a level of digital integration that should, by all rights, require a degree in advanced computer science to navigate. Instead, the interface is so beautifully intuitive that operating it feels like climbing into the cockpit of a commercial airliner and suddenly, miraculously, knowing exactly what every single button does. ​It is a high-fidelity Bluetooth speaker, a virtual guitar tutor, a recording interface, and a ferocious-sounding amplifier, all crammed into a neat enclosure barely larger than a toaster. It is an absolute triumph of engineering, and it has made my massively expensive studio rig look a bit...*sigh*... I want my Quad Cortex to do what this little box does! *UPDATE* Just over a week has gone by and I seem to have encountered a well known issue - it doesn't turn on. Yes, somehow intermittent power failures or a failure to turn on is a known issue with the Positive Grid Spark 2. Positive Grid officially documents this behavior, acknowledging that units can become unresponsive due to an MCU (Microcontroller Unit) firmware problem. And to permanently fix the software bug causing these random power failures and prevent the unit from locking up again, you need to update the amplifier's firmware. Positive Grid has released official firmware updates specifically to resolve these MCU crashes, unexpected reboots, and power loss issues. However my firmware is already up to date and it's still happening, you turn it on and literally nothing happens. How. How in all that is holy, has this been allowed to be released when it has such a glaring problem? It's like building the world's best car, you spend literal mountains of cash on aerodynamics, the engine, the wheels, even the colour and everything else only to release the car without an ignition. They have obviously taken a huge amount of time, energy and money to make the app as great as possible, the build quality, the sound, the variety or amps and effects only to release something that literally doesn't turn on!

Sound-wise it's very versitile. I'd have loved this as a starter amp when I was a beginner (if it worked, i'll get to that). Looks great, sounds good and you get a LOT for the money. It has an inherently limited shelf life because almost all of the functionality is app-based. The only way to modify any of the 8 presets is to have the app. That's fine for now and for the next few years, sure. Eveyone's got a phone. One day the App WILL stop working. Naturally, all companies move on to other products and eventually end support. They stop allowing newer devices and eventually they take them off the store. Again, this will not happen for years. As of this review, there's no way of modifying presets using PC or Mac software. I was content with this for the 2 months that I owned one before it broke. Never the volume up, and I kept it in the same place this whole. It started turning itself off after a few minutes of playing.

Juste parfait. Tellement de possibilités avec cet ampli, gros point fort pour quelqu'un qui vient a commencer l'application simule un grand nombre de pédales d'effets. Pour un premier ampli je recommande, bien sûr c'est un budget mais il ne faut pas négliger le fait que avoir un bon ampli peut changer énormément au niveau du son de sa guitare. Trop de gens achètent une guitare a plus 500€ mais un ampli bas de gammes. Le spark 2 est pour cela un super compromis !

J'avais adoré le petit frère, le "mini", par la taille... le grand frère explose tout! C'est juste parfait pour s'amuser voire jouer dans les bars ou les boeufs entre potes, et bien sûr pour s'entraîner à la maison. On peut le faire crier ou jouer avec un casque pour rester discret, c'est impeccable! Huit presets au lieu de quatre sur le "mini", c'est super, et les contrôles classiques bass, medium et treble sont efficaces, on entend bien la différence. Il y a deux potars pour régler le volume de la guitare indépendamment de la musique sur laquelle on peut jouer, plus un volume master, c'est très souple. Avec l'application, on lâche les chevaux en multipliant les sons possibles en fonction de l'ampli choisi et des effets. On peut aussi télécharger des centaines de sons selon le style/artiste recherché: vous voulez le son de Gilmour, d'Angus Young, de Kirk Hammett? Pas de problème! C'est vraiment très pratique et amusant également. Bref, si vous cherchez quelque chose de polyvalent qui peut quand même "crier" assez fort, et de très fun, c'est ce qu'il faut! En plus, pas besoin de casser le cochon pour l'acheter... Il est juste dépendant de l'application pour avoir vraiment toutes les fonctionnalités. Espérons que Positive Grid soit encore présent longtemps... sauvegarder vos .APK. ;-)

Tanta roba. Suono grosso da un ampli piccolo. Senza balle. Metti il cavo e suoni. Ho sempre faticato con i pedali, impostazioni e la ricerca del suono. Con questo ampli tutto quanto si risolve. Per suonare a casa è davvero il top.

Llevo usándolo ya un día y es un producto increíble. Tienes todos los amplia del mundo en una caja que mide tan solo 40cm de ancho y que tiene infinitas posibilidades una vez conectado a un móvil o tablet con la app de la misma marca del ampli, ahí puedes descargar presets de te te o generar el tuyo a pedido por la IA que tiene, te permite enlazar Apple music y antes dejaba Spotify, da igual porque puedes entrar en Spotify y dejar la app del ampli en segundo plano y mantiene los settings y todo, a parte SE PUEDEN GUARDAR EN LA MENORIA DEL AMPLI :0 osea es tal vez el producto más novedoso que he tenido en cuanto a música en toda mi vida. Y otro detalle que pasó por alto, la IA física del ampli sin hacer absolutamente nada te elimina el ruido de estática totalmente, es un producto que miraría antes de marcarme la clásica de decir "me compro un Marshall que es lo mejor". El Spark II ha llegado pateando fuerte y cuidado que es un pedazo de opción, pues usarlo para grabar directamente con la grabadora de voz o usando una app de grabación, graba a través de un USB C que por cierto viene incluido. De momento nada más que objetar. Es una marca que está triunfando y está llamada a seguir triunfando. 100% recomendado. Eso sí, usarlo sin cascos o con unos buenos cascos (no unos JBL por favor), a poder ser de 8 Ohmios o en su defecto al aire sin cascos

First off, I do not review many products. They have to be either bad, or really, really good. This one falls into the latter bucket. I've been playing the guitar now for about 25 years, off and on, but not seriously until recently. I picked up a bunch of gear earlier this year, and had a list of pedals and other stuff I was planning to work through, but lucked across the Spark series. I'd planned to get the Go, which technically does what I needed it to do right now, but decided to spring for the Spark 2 so I don't have to go get another one in a few months. Boy am I glad I did! Wow. I have only spent a couple days with the amp so far, but already I've thrown away my old list. I simply don't need any of it. The amp models and pedal options check off literally everything. I would highly recommend this for anyone at any level. If you're not looking to spend as much, the smaller models do all the same stuff. Get your foot in the door, ASAP! After a couple days, I was sick of staring at my phone for hours (the app keeps the screen on, at least on Android) and reconnecting the app every so often (I suppose if the app doesn't use the connection, the phone closes it to save power), so off to Google I went. Turns out there's an app (PC/Mac/Linux) that someone created (no affiliated with Positive Grid at all, from what I can tell) and web browser based option out there, which I found much easier to use. There are also pages with mappings from the names of the amp models and pedals in the app, so don't be afraid to dig around. All around, exactly what I wanted, before I even knew I wanted it. Also, everything I needed, with zero hassle. Plug it in, turn it on and jam. It takes a little time to get used to the app, but it's not exactly simple; finding a starting point is impossible to screw up though and you can go from there. Professional sound in a portable package that requires little to no experience to start using. EDIT: The SoundShed app technically supports the Spark 40 and Mini, but I have used it with the Spark 2 and it works to control the details of existing presets, change the amp/pedal models and switch to other amp-stored presets, but you can't switch to something that's not already saved and can't use the ToneCloud setups. This is not a dealbreaker for me, since the phone app works well for that, and with the Windows Phone Link you can see it on a PC. I just wanted to clarify since I started poking around and noticed. The SoundShed desktop app doesn't work well with the 2, but the web version does.
