As expected. Has a small out of package like all burlap does. Some have more of a chemical smell and need to be aired out. This one has more of a rancid smell, Not sure which is worse. The chemical small is definitely a different smell than this has, but this one is weaker, but more rancid. Overall exactly what I expected.
