Berlinzo Clear Ice Cube Maker Mold - 8 2.1in Whiskey Squares, Non-Electric

Very pleased with the ice this mold makes and a definite improvement over the previous design from the same brand. Be warned, this is a large mold and needs space…not for mini fridges or small shelves. Was surprised to find the cubes in the upper portion actually frozen in less than 48 hours (it does need more than 24 hours to completely freeze). The lower portion takes significantly more time to freeze and may still have pockets of water in a shell of ice after the cubes in the upper portion are frozen. The storage bag for the cubes is excellent for keeping them stocked up, but could be a little bigger to make placing the cubes inside easier. The white silicone inserts to freeze different phases into the ice work perfectly and ate easy to use. Most of the phases are not my style or interest, but fun all the same. I would have preferred the letters be recessed in the finished cube so the drink pools in them for a nice effect, but they still work. Custom inserts (logo or custom text) would be a nice option, even if ordered separately.

Worked great. Used tap water. Easy instructions. In the freezer for 24 hours. Easy to remove - 8 crystal clear cubes!!! Nice product!

It made great ice for about 45 days before developing a leak in the tray.

I am a bartender. I was very skeptical because a couple of mixed reviews but I decided to buy, test it and return if necessary. I simply followed the instructions, filled the molds with warm tap water and after 30 hours in the fridge and booom... 8 perfect cristal clear ice cubes. I didn't loose time and filled it again to see if I was gonna repeat the result. Cristal clear again. Considering that it's all frozen, it was relatively easy to remove the molds. Pull one side, than the other and keep going until it starts getting out. The product is very well built and the silicone molds are very resistant. Now I have 16 cristal clear ice cubes stored in my fridge in the special and thick ziplock bag the comes with the kit. I have a chest freezer so it fit perfectly. I'll update the review soon with pictures of the clear ice cubes.

Gets the job done very well! I purchased the square cubes that make 8 at a time, will definitely need a good amount of space in the freezer for this, it is the size of a six pack igloo cooler. I have the space in a second refrigerator/freezer and keep the temperature around 10-15f, it takes closer to 36 hours rather than 24hr recommended time but makes perfectly clear ice with little to no air bubbles, 100f water eliminated all air bubbles. The square molds make very large squares, will need large enough glass size for these to fit. The round ice molds will allow for a smaller glass diameter.

The product works as it should and produces good clear ice, but unfortunately it seems to me the inner plastic is too brittle. Like most clear ice makers, the product has several layers. The outer layers is a Styrofoam-based cooler. Inside that is a hard plastic layer (the one that is brittle) and inside of that fits several silicon-based cube molds. As with any clear ice product, once you remove the product from the fridge and peeled out the silicon-based cube molds, it is also advisable to remove the hard plastic from the cooler so that the reject ice can melt faster and you can reset the whole thing for your next batch of clear ice. And, as is often the case with all of these products, when things are frozen together a bit of force is required to remove the hard plastic layer. Unfortunately in this product, I find that the hard plastic is just too brittle and the rim cracks and breaks. I uploaded a photo of that. If you do want to use this product I would recommend that you never remove the hard plastic layer from the Styrofoam cooler. This will mean that your reject ice might take a bit longer to melt enough to be removed, which will mean longer cycles between use. In the photo you may see that I have used some silicon glue to repair the one corner of the hard plastic, but it also broke in other places after that. I have now seen this layer break three different times in different positions. To be clear, I own several clear ice products that work in a similar fashion to this one, but this is the only one I own that has this problem.

It makes clear 2" cubes, but takes up a lot of space in the freezer and the cubes occupy 3/4 of the space in a highball glass. The cubes are only the top half of the ice that freezes in the box. The bottom half stays behind when you remove the molds. After each use, it takes a day to thaw the ice left in the bottom of the insulated box before you can use it again. The cubes can be challenging to remove unless you let them thaw a bit, then when you put them in the silicone bag for storage they freeze together.

Cubed perfectly clear ice cubes and super easy to do, highly recommended. Well made and an attractive apparatus. I ordered the 8-cube being as I have a dedicated full-size freezer and have the space. At the third batch and I feel like a pro...i don't understand people having problems using this.

This is a GREAT product ! It works sooo well. 24 hours and you get perfect ice. Don't move it while its freezing. This works so well and I have tried a few but this one is great. The 8 cube maker is big and I put it in my chest freezer. So good I plan on giving it as gifts.

Works exactly as advertised, Ice perfectly clear and left over ice Is perfect for extra mix ice.
