Q7 Meta Floorstanding Speaker (Walnut, Each)

It took way too long to pull the trigger on the KEF Q7s. They’re expensive, especially when you realize the price is per speaker not a pair. Although I’m not sure how many people are in the market for a single speaker, with their unplugged mono amplifier waiting patiently…? So, they’re big. Both the footprint and sound. They’re similar to setup as most floor standing speakers, with some screws (you will need a screwdriver) to assemble the base. The foot levelling system is genius, screwed into place the rubber feet Allen wrench downward with an over clamp, the covers slide perfectly into place. Clearly the META plate isn’t the only thing to benefit from CAD / Ai. I have the Marantz PM6007 stereo amplifier, and expected an immediate upgrade (model 60n) once these were in place, but they match perfectly. The sound stage isn’t overly bright, with plenty of mid range detail and punchy bass. We use various inputs, this system is primarily used in the family room. So anything from Pro-Ject vinyl, line in audio and digital link Apple TV. Playing anything from Pink Floyd to Peppa Pig. Elbow to Elmo. Metallica to Matilda. You get the idea. I’m confident they could be tweaked for more specific needs, but they produce a warm and forgiving sound out of the box. System matching is crucial though, so make sure your amplifier has enough juice.
