ArtDot Blue Putty, Review & Tips
Personally, I LOVE this putty! I have purchased 3 tins of the blue putty (1 for my daughter and 1 as a backup). I do 120 color - 200 color canvases and this stuff lasts FOREVER! I LOVE the firmness of it and how it never sticks to my canvas or my drills, no residue whatsoever. I thought I was missing out on the "fancy, scented" puttys on Etsy so I ordered a couple to try. Needless to say, they went in the trash and I pulled out my awesome ArtDot blue putty and will never look back. The trick is to keep it cool (some people in hot, humid areas use the crisper drawer in the fridge), in Maine that isn't a problem and do not overfill your multi-placer. Really smash it in the multi-placer and realize the first couple of placings will end up pushing a little out on the sides. Remove the stuff on the sides and put it back into your brick of putty. Every once in a while I will rub my finger over it to smooth it out but not that often. When it gets dirty or starts to feel stringy to me, I take it out, roll it around my fingers, put it back in my pen and we're off to the races again. I use glue dots in my single placer but will only use the ArtDot blue putty in my multi-placer. It lasts forever and I NEVER have residue on my canvas or my drills. When placing AB's with my single placer using glue dots, I wet the tip with a damp paper towel and AB's won't stick (need to re-wet after about 8-10 drills). Everyone paints differently and all environments are different but I highly recommend this putty and give it a chance. Learn how to work with it and I think you will love it. I know I do. Plus, you get SO much of it. For the price, you can't beat it. I put my whole square in a ziplock sandwich bag and then put it in the tin so that it will stay fresh. When I do a 50x70 painting in 120 colors, I usually only have to fill my pen once and rarely have to take it out to roll it around with my fingers (depending on the weather). I do like to smooth it once in a while though. Be sure to get it even (especially both sides) so that you can get a full line for the size of your placer. I hope this helps others who have had issues using this putty as I have tried MANY different things in my multi-placer and I will never use anything else again after purchasing this putty.

Best putty I've tried
I was a bit skeptical about this but figured I would give it a go, and I'm so glad I did. You get a lot of putty for your money, and it comes in it's own container which is nice. There is also a tool to help get your old putty out of your pen. Loading my single placer is probably the hardest thing to do. I've used this on an 8 multiplacer and although not the easiest, it seems to go better than the single placer. I've also noticed I am finding it easier each time I use it, so it's probably a bit of user error/practice on my part. This is the only putty I have ever used that doesn't leave putty behind on the drills. It is so easy to work with. It's also the first putty I've used that successfully gets ABs down without sticking to them or taking the coating off. I can even multiplace with it! Before the best I could do was get some water and use that on the ABs (very carefully), with this I don't need the water. I am very happy with this, a lot goes a long way. I feel I need to change the putty at the start of a new session each day, do I am swapping it out more than my other putty. But it's so much easier, you get a lot of it, and I can't see me running out for at least 6 months, and that's assuming I paint every day. Well worth the price.
