Bissell 48X4E InstaClean Compact Upright Carpet Washer

Having used an older model of Bissel carpet cleaner (which after 15 years of service, finally gave up the ghost) I had to get another as we were going to have guests (This was before the second lockdown happened just to be clear). This is much more less bulky than its earlier incarnation and easier to assemble and use, you even get a free small bottle of the oxy cleaner fluid which helps very much.The only minor gripe I have is the front panel of the carpet cleaner has to be fitted on correctly which if slightly out, can lose suction leaving wet spots here and there but unlocking the clip and repositioning the panel can remedy this. All in all a great little machine. May this one last another 15 years or more.

I’m super happy with this carpet cleaner. We have a large rug that fills the lounge area on top of laminate flooring. It has huge traffic all day... then we got a puppy!Super easy to use and I was genuinely horrified at the colour of the water! It did a great job. The suction left the carpet nearly dry and the cleaner came with a trial size bottle of cleaner that I estimate will do 3 cleans.I am really happy with it.Cleaning was a bit grim but quite easy to do.Good value. Bottom of the price range with great reviews. There are cheaper products but from unknown brands with poor reviews. There are also way more expensive cleaners. This is perfect for keeping our rug and bedroom carpets clean and fresh.Can’t do stairs though. I’ll live!

LIKE: Lightweight, easy to use ideal if elderly or unable to lift heavy bulky cleaners. Cleans the carpets well and as it's lightweight slim it can get in to those awkward places.DISLIKE: A faff to clean difficult to get all the loose carpet out of the collection drum, almost impossible too clean the roller and the cable is too short.OVERALL: Suits us and not really suitable heavily soiled carpets but ideal for a couple or small flat/house. I would recommend this carpet cleaner but would ask that the manufacturer comes up with a much easier way of cleaning it after use.

I was slightly sceptical about this but it worked a treat. It’s light and powerful. Left our carpets touch dry which really shocked me. We don’t have much carpet but we do have two puppies and it cleaned their mess out of cream carpet beautifully. I also have a teenage daughter and it removed makeup stains with little effort. It’s a domestic appliance you need patience and take it slow. You will require regular fill ups of the little tank and empty the reservoir several times but to be honest that’s no big deal.A quick rince of reservoir and wipe clean of the brush bar leaves it ready for next use.It’s actually smaller and lighter than my upright dyson. I really am very impressed with this product.

There are a couple of negatives, so let's start there. It is very fiddly to clean. I have to empty out the dirty water tank, fill with clean water and shake, empty and repeat a few times to get it clean. Also there is no smaller attachment for cleaning stairs or tight corners. Therefore my carpets are sparkly clean with the exception of my stairs that look tired.Otherwise it's really good! I use it probably every other week as I have dogs that seem to constantly be making a mess. My carpets look like new when they've been cleaned. I'm always surprised just how much dirt it can get out of the carpet each time as well.You do need to be careful that everything is clean and attached properly or you will end up flooding your carpets as it won't suck all the water up. I found this out the hard way when I came home to find my partner had tried to clean the carpets himself and accidently flooded the living room carpet. If this does happen, be warned that mildew can grow in your carpet and underlay and begin to smell awful!

I have owned the Rolls Royce of the bissell family for a decade, after much use it's in getting repaired just now, so I had to get this baby (to do a job that couldn't wait). Well it's a great carpet shampooer, cleaned a light brown carpet today, which this machine turned blue. This is smaller and much lighter than my other but it packs a strong punch and because it weighs 5.5kgs it's easier on the old back. I would recommend this shampooer. My mum who is 85 could use it no problem, it's as light as a decent quality vacuum cleaner.

I have only used this once but was very pleased with the results. Easy to assemble and easy to use. Quite light and maneuverable. Not used it on the stairs as not sure how easy that will be. Carpet came up lovely after first clean with stains being removed that had been on the carpet for sometime. My wife hoovered the carpet first and then I got to play with our new toy could not believe how much dirt and dog hair came up out of the carpet. Much easier to use than a rental that I have previously used. I look forward to doing the carpet a second time as I as sure the carpet will look like almost new. Did need to fill with clean water and empty a few times but it is only a compact so no problem there and easy to clean once finished using it. Very pleased with it and as long as it doesn't break down it will be a great purchase.

Of course, soon as it arrived at my door i ripped open the box and assembled, which is super easy. Great to see a small bottle of shampoo what came with it.So lets go through the pros.My carpet is very high trafficked, the stains are terrible due to prams, kids and shoes. The carpet cleaner cut through it all. My living room looks brand new.The cons.It seems to eat the water and solution very quickly. We needed a bottle and a bit for our living room, but maybe thats because how dirty it was. We had to refill a lot, and empty the dirty water out a lot.However for the price, fab piece of equipment.
